Small unreasonable things that annoy you

Here are mine...

My mum putting hair clips in DDs hair.

Fil is obsessed with mowing our lawn in the summer. Of course it's lovely of him to do but he never tells me he's coming and just let's himself in. Really winds me up and I have no idea why.

Another Fil one. Blush Whenever he comes over, if there are any dirty dishes in the sink, he insists on washing them. You can't stop him. The problem is that he doesn't actually wash them. He kind of dips them in the dirty water they've been soaking in, then puts them straight on the drainer.

Of course I wouldn't ever complain about these things and I'm definitely BU to be annoyed.

So tell me about the small things that shouldn't annoy you, but do.

DH whistling
DH singing
DS1 running back and forward through the lounge for about half an hour every night making whooshing noises - apparently he is "playing"
Screaming in the house
Screaming at playgroup
Screaming in general
Adverts that are louder than tv programmes, so that they suddenly blare out and wake the toddler when he's just gone to sleep
Adverts in general
The low sun when I'm driving towards it and can't get my sun visor down low enough to block it out
Cunts who park in the middle of a 2-car parking space (ok that's not unreasonable)

I'm sure there are more - I'm generally of an irritable disposition :(

MrsSippy · 23/09/2014 09:36

DH putting his sweaty pants NEXT to the washing basket...WTF??

DH biting his nails.

DH pulling out his nose-hair whilst driving - apparently to keep him awake!!!!

DS1 leaving a trail of 'stuff' in his wake...hat in the hall, shoes by the chair, socks on the floor, wallet on the table etc.

DS2 and his inability to complete ANYTHING - 1/2 cleaned car, washing left in machine to stink, incomplete HND!!!

DM and the nervous laugh whenever you tell her any remotely bad news...grrr!

The dog farting loudly...never known a rasping dog before! She even makes herself jump!!!

Plumping up the cushions on the sofa a MILLION times a day - why did nobody warn me of the perils of fucking scatterback sofas?

Mike Brewer - the man just makes me want to scream, DH is a big fan and will put Wheeler flaming Dealers on just to annoy me. Just thinking about his stupid face while he basically gives away cars that the lovely Ed has worked hard on makes me want to drop the nut on him!!!

Oh and people who say 'almost exactly' - which is it?

PoirotsMoustache · 23/09/2014 13:41

People at work who think the notice to put used crockery and cutlery in the dishwasher and not the sink doesn't apply to them!

MediumExpectations · 23/09/2014 15:04

People who clip their finger nails in public (true it was in the quiet coach too). Assume it was finger nails.
Alan Carr
People who drive up the middle of the Motorway when they are not overtaking.
DW sucking the tap after cleaning her teeth and leaving a white smudge.
Offers in the supermarket where you are induced to buy more than needed and end up throwing stuff away.
Russell Brand
Water spray from the fields when I have just had the car washed.
Massive assumed gratuities when service has been crap at best.
People looking at their phones when going through the station (especially if they are wheeling at the same time). In fact people with bugger all special awareness - get to the top of an escalator and just stand.
That's enough for now

landrover · 23/09/2014 16:10

But you have to roll up pairs of socks to put in the wash so that you don't lose them! I try to make my husband remember to roll them up, put in wash basket, then i unroll them to put in machine. NO LOST SOCKS!!! (in theory!) Smile

WitchWay · 23/09/2014 16:33

Both my DM & MIL drive me nuts when "helping" because they collect the dirty dishes on the draining board - surely that's for clean stuff that has been washed in the sink because it can't go in the dishwasher - aargh - they do it in their own kitchens too Hmm

Telephone cords that tangle - makes me furious just looking at my desk phone at work Grin I have no idea how it tangles because I don't tangle it & no-one else uses my office Confused

Doubtfuldaphne · 23/09/2014 17:58

I hate my Dh brushing his teeth in bed. It's so uneccesarry - just stand at the sink! It shakes the bed too with his vigorous brushing 'technique'
I finally snapped last night and said he has to stop. He asked if I had PMT! Angry

Doubtfuldaphne · 23/09/2014 18:02

I also hate the over use of 'artisan'

Doris75 · 23/09/2014 19:46

Coat hangers really piss me off. Especially in the morning when fishing something out of wardrobe to wear. They get all tangled up with one another.

Oh, and small wheeled suitcases. People seem to dither with them.

And really dry, cracked heels in a flip flop or sandal. Unnecessary.

Oh, oh and DH switching on 'big' light in living room to read, when the little side lamps are Right. Next. To. Him.

I may be back...

teenagersknowall · 23/09/2014 20:03

total strangers tellling me all about their hopes and dreams. Really?

KoalaDownUnder · 23/09/2014 20:09

The way my friend says 'bye' at the end of a phone call: 'Okay, bye Koala, bye, bye-byebyebye-bye-bye' Confused All fast and stuttery and weird. Just say it once!

Pipbin · 23/09/2014 20:22

The way my friend says 'bye' at the end of a phone call

You phone people? Is your texting broken?

Pipbin · 23/09/2014 20:23

I hate my Dh brushing his teeth in bed

What the actual fuck? Who the hell brushes their teeth in bed?

ContactIssue · 23/09/2014 20:39

Koala, my sister does that! Grin

Doubtfuldaphne · 24/09/2014 08:36

Pipbin, I know. It's just not normal.

pictish · 24/09/2014 08:40

Serial Selfie posters on fb. Especially those who use dogs/kids/friends as props. We know you just want to show us how gorgeous you think you are, leave the puppy out of it.

YY to this. I have a friend who is an offender. Lovely in rl but a terrible fb selfie pusher.
"Me n my girl" will be a pouty photo of my friend and her tits, with her dd's head squashed in to one corner of it.
Any excuse to fish for a bucket of "looking good hunni" and "gorgeous pic babe".

Ffs.

StillSquirrelling · 24/09/2014 09:10

Why does he brush his teeth in bed?! Why would you do that? Where does he spit? I'm presuming that the toothbrush gets a quick rinse in the penis beaker?

I have a friend who is a manic photo taker. It drives me mad, in an amusing sort of way. Even if she pops in just for a cuppa, she'll end up taking about 10 pics, all of which have to have her in. She also does a lot of throwing her arms around you and declaring that she loves you. It makes me very uncomfortable as I'm not very expressive. She's a lovely person otherwise though, and I've known her since I was in 2nd year at high school so I'm well used to it by now!!

KoalaDownUnder · 24/09/2014 10:21

Pipbin, I know, so retro of me! Grin
Contact, so you know my pain. I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but it sounds so fussy and manic. I can't describe how teeth-grittingly irritating I find it!

Chixie · 24/09/2014 12:29

My DH takes his shoes and socks off in different places and will often wander around with just one shoe/sock on. Ffs man just take both off and put them away.

The children appear to have picked this habit up from him now as well.

MrsToddsShortcut · 24/09/2014 15:22

People referring to things that they are about to eat/drink/do as 'cheeky'. "I'm just having a cheeky glass of wine before cooking a cheeky steak, then I'm going to watch a cheeky episode of Eastenders!"

Arrrgh!

Also drivers who think they are too busy and important to drive all the way around a busy traffic laden roundabout. Instead, they whizz found the inside lane and try and cut in at the exit. It drives me MAD.

Oh and DM leaves scrunched up used tissues all over my flat when she visits.

And people who pronounce sexual with an extra added 's', so they say sex-sewell. It makes me feel faintly ill.

MrsToddsShortcut · 24/09/2014 15:27

Oh and the way that, according to style magazines, in addition to 'rocking a yellow pant/trouser/lip (gah! Nails down blackboard!), famous people apparantly no longer collect things. They 'curate' them.

KoalaDownUnder · 24/09/2014 15:56

As long as they curate them with a pop of colour, though, MrsTodds...

MrsToddsShortcut · 24/09/2014 16:11
Grin
cherrybombxo · 24/09/2014 16:20

Oh, another one - I can't stand knobby office-speak! "Just wanted to touch base to find out the state of play with that document. Let me know when it's finished so I can cascade it down to everyone..."

Argh!

The worst Officespeak is Challenging Your Comfort Zone.

It means: 'I am going to make your position here thoroughly miserable and then I am going to make you redundant.'
