To eat stinky, ripe, powerful cheese?

Aftertaste of ammonia in the nostrils, hefty lingering tastes in the mouth. Anyone else like cheese the stronger the better?

I thick that's lunch sorted then as I have Black bomber in the fridge and a very stinky piece of Brie de Maiux, I shall serve with oatcakes, celery, pickled onions and an apple.

Love strong cheese

PetulaGordino · 14/09/2014 10:23

Um Bertie it tastes like cheese! Rather difficult to describe to someone who doesn't eat cheese. Salty and savoury and slightly bitter and slightly sweet

MyFairyKing · 14/09/2014 10:44

YABVVVVVVU to post about cheese. Shock I fucking LOVE cheese but I have a chronic stomach disorder which means when I eat cheese, I puke like the exorcist. Sad

On a less selfish note, YANBU cheese is amazing!

UncleT · 14/09/2014 10:47

Glad the guests see how many cheese fiends are here. I was eating Maroilles - yummy.

Roquefort...how I love roquefort.

mausmaus · 14/09/2014 10:52

have you tried baking a very ripe camembert or brie with a clove if garlic? the dip baguette in it?

danish cave cheese hmmmm yum.

I hate stinky goats cheese but soft ripe cheese is delicious, even my dc like it.

AndHarry · 14/09/2014 10:53

I like Stilton and ripe Brie but I have limits. The Stilton you buy sealed into pottery jars at Christmas stings Shock It went in the bin...

Stilton and sweet chili sauce on cream crackers, mmm.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 14/09/2014 10:57

Yes, fab. The stinker the better Grin

RightyTightyLeftyLoosey · 14/09/2014 11:08

Mmmmm I want cheese now
Love all cheeses but a really ripe stilton, or somerset blue with a glass of red, some grapes, an apple and crusty bread - thats my favourite supper.

OP YADNBU!

almapudden · 14/09/2014 11:17

I love Roquefort and Stilton. I once made cheese sauce with half a round of Camembert; it was amazing but my god, it made my eyes water!

lillamyy1 · 14/09/2014 11:52

YANBU. Cheese is amazing, the stinkier the better!

TheToadLessTravelled · 14/09/2014 12:13

I am suffering major cheese envy as you all talk about delicious stinky cheese. My favourite indulgence of port with offensive smelling cheese (ideally very strong blue or a runny French wash rind) has been thwarted by my moving outside Europe. Cheeses here are just not strong enough Hmm

hormonalandneedingcheese · 14/09/2014 12:30

Hell yes, love it when the taste hits you the moment it's in your mouth, without even a chew!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 14/09/2014 12:46

Anything that smells like a basket of footballers socks after 90 mins + extra time and penalties, should be buried in the ground and left.

I remember once my dad got a cheese out of the fridge and he said it smelled like baby shit.

ALL CHEESE ANY TIME

Ifem · 14/09/2014 12:49

I only discovered the joys of stinky blue cheese a year ago, in my ripe old late thirties, after a lifetime of thinking it seemed quite vile.

I am obsessed with really ripe stilton at the moment. Divine. I could murder a whole chunk of it with a glass of tawny port

Plomino · 14/09/2014 13:03

Oh yes ! I love Epoisse , but it stinks to high heaven (actually banned to travel with it on the Paris underground I have heard ) But tastes gorgeous . Love Stinking Bishop as well but DH makes me eat that in the garden with the wind in the other direction !

AnAwfullyGoodOxymoron · 14/09/2014 14:03

I like smelly cheese, St. Agur is my favourite I think, perfect blend of creamy and stinky.

A good pot of stilton drenched in port and xmas is divine.

fishdishwish · 14/09/2014 14:06

I'm not a big lover of malodorous cheeses, but I do like an nice white Stilton, preferably with apricots.

SquirrelWearingATrilby · 14/09/2014 14:12

My mouth is watering now. We polished off a nice stilton last night with a delicious red wine. My favourite supper.

Off on holiday soon and I'm taking cheese with me as where we're going you can only get polystyrene masquerading as cheese. If it doesn't rugby tackle you as soon as the fridge is open then it's not a cheese.

ithoughtofitfirst · 14/09/2014 14:34

I don't want any presents when i give birth for myself or the baby i just want people to bring me LOADS OF CHEESE. There will be no deficit of calories through breastfeeding either because of LOADS OF CHEESE. If i lose any baby weight this time then i'll know i'm not eating enough cheese.

Yadnbfu.

MrsMot · 14/09/2014 14:38

Maroilles nom nom. Older the better .

JackShit · 14/09/2014 15:11
