My tiny terror is driving me insane, he is 1 year old and spends his days either doing something naughty or crying and screaming because I've told him no and tried to divert his attention to other things. ALL DAY LONGGGGGGGG ARRRGGGH!!!!! AIBU to scream back at him and throw a tantrum myself???????

I think as appealing as it sometimes sound what you need to do is strap him in the buggy and head out for a walk, hopefully he will sleep and you can clear your head and grab a coffee
It's just one of those days but it will get better

A little bit - but totally not unreasonable to eat chocolate during his nap and get the wine in for later.

I've also got a One year old have you introduced yours to your pan cupboard, mine seems to love playing with real things.

In the same situation as you. Going to run her ragged on the beach!

Thanks all, I took him for a walk, he's having his nap now and I'm bingeing on chocolates. Aaaaaahhhhhh that's better Smile Not even going to try to do anything useful while he's asleep, just enjoying the peace and quiet while it lasts. Whatdoesaduckdo I have introduced him to the pan cupboard and also the filing cupboard and pen box, they all work for a while until he realises that he could be using his time doing naughty things instead....the little angel...

My DM was the only one I would listen to when I had my first DC. She never thrust advice at me but was always available for answering questions. Her sagest advice was every afternoon get out for a walk ( we lived in Clifton Bristol in those days so it was a lovely place for strolling.) I would have lost my sanity if I hadn't done this and DM who was a nurse said "it will be good for you too!" She just said don't strap him in the car seat and drive him round. It became such an important part of the daily routine that at 2.5 years he would hoick himsef into the buggy at about 2.30. Glad that everything is a bit better and that you are getting some "me" time Op :) Before you know it those babies are 16 and would NOT be seen dead going for a walk with DM Sad

A trip to the park has never failed to tire out hyper children who need to burn some energy.

When baby DD is fussy, I just take her for a walk and the fresh air knocks her right out for a bit.
