I call them Empire biscuits too. I am confident they are not in any danger of being renamed.

We call them Double Shortbread, my favourite.

I don't know what Empire biscuits are, but I am concerned that Tunnocks caramel wafers could become more expensive in England.

Empire biscuits here in Edinburgh, used to sell them in Greggs under that name.

My granny always called them German Biscuits.

I've always known them as Empire biscuits (Edinburgh born and bred...)

But they can easily be 'Freedom biscuits'. I agree about not making the icing blue though - wouldn't fancy that!

Funny, I live down south and was hunting empire biscuits just the other day to no avail. I just needed one and nothing else would do.
