To think blazers for school are the stupidest idea?

So impractical
Just looking at a few friends pics, 4yr olds in blazers? It's cute for the first day, but it has to be massively impractical. How do they play?
And watching that educating Essex program, they all have them on in class, it's got to be so uncomfortable.
I understand wanting the to look smart, but I think in the vast majority of cases a sweater could look as smart.
Maybe it's just me, I hated wearing suits for work, very uncomfortable and restrictive

Mine have never been able to take them off unless the teacher says its hot.

Anything under secondary school is ridiculous imo

"wear a shit and tie" - bit of a Freudian slip there I fear!

DH teaches prep. THe boys love their blazers, they fulfil many functions:

A garment yes obv.

The small boy equivalent of a handbag- tissue, matchattak cards, pens pencils, tennis ball, handy folding school diary schedule ( all matches, concerts prizegiving etc all year in advance!). And small child " prizes" - stones, snails ( alive or dead), bits of blue tack, nasty sticky things etc

And a wearable pin board for prizes (the boys love them) prefect , school council, achievement badges- various colours for level and many subjects. It's a miracle some year 6s don't walk with a stoop!

Uh yes goal posts!

DS loved his at school ( secondary) DD avoided it for a few years but then wanted the " optional" one . She likes it too- even though she's "shapley" it looks fine.

DS kids and out kids have easy wash polyester blazers (made of recycled pop bottles) . You can wash them one night, hang up and they are fine to wear next morning.

Value- DS had 1/yr at £20 from M+S. DD has a school suppliers one £35 IIRC but it'll do 2yrs. THey don't often wear jumpers so only have/had 1 each.
