Posting here for higher traffic.
My DH and I have been married 5 years this October, which is wood. He has always wanted a rocking chair and seeing as it's kind of a special year I thought I would splash out on him a little bit. Would anyone think this would look weird in a living room? There was one in the maternity ward when I had DS and they are sooo relaxing!

As for size, hadn't even crossed my mind... he's 6ft 4 and proportionately built!
fireside we need to start a business. They are so, so comfy it's crazy that there are no normal versions!

fcukip DH would love a La-Z-Boy but aren't they £££££?!
I'm surprised no-one has twigged that I secretly want one for myself...I might just sod it and be terribly unfashionable like loudart Grin

I searched high and low for an alternative to those nursing chairs when I was kitting out the nursery as their ugliness make my eyes bleed . There really aren't many decent alternatives, I ended up with the Ikea one. I bought second hand and bought new thicker foam pads, added a homemade cover and cushions and it is now more stylish and v comfortable.

Not sure op it's got you not him.... What hobbits etc does he have

MerryMarigold · 08/09/2014 17:39

The Poang isn't really a rocking chair though. I would get him a trad wooden one. You can get them with cushions.

MerryMarigold · 08/09/2014 17:39

I have an exceptionally comfy one from my gran...it has fabric slats on the seat bit, covered by a cushion so it's not hard at all.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 08/09/2014 17:42

It's not a traditional rocking chair and not wooden, so probably not what your DH is after at all, but this is on my wish list...

OldBeanbagz · 08/09/2014 17:47

Again not a traditional rocking chair but i love this one on the John Lewis website.

itsbetterthanabox · 08/09/2014 17:50

Most people don't know what a feeding chair is or looks like. Those gliding chairs are really good, better than a normal rocker and comfy with the foot rest. Get it!

JamaicanMeCrazy · 08/09/2014 19:23

londonrach hobbits Grin

We have that nursing chair (well the same one but cheaper from Amazon) in the nursery. I wouldn't want it in the lounge but it is very comfy. I originally wanted the Eames style one but in fibreglass it is shockingly cold on the base of your back when your tshirt rides up!

WantonMother · 08/09/2014 20:29

Well londonrach and jamaicanmecrazy I am somewhat shorter, rounder and hairier than I would like... Blush

coffeechocolatewine I must watch too much Disney cause your ripple chair instantly made me think of this! (The insect thing on his plate!)
But I'm not known for my good taste in home furnishings (hence having to do this AIBU!) and it does look comfortable!

I'm still looking for more stylish glider chairs but it's turned into a game of where can I find the most hideous one. This one is foul...

I do live Ercol - but it's £££

Hassled · 08/09/2014 20:43

love, not live. I don't live in the Ercol warehouse.

Lambzig · 08/09/2014 21:09

I have an ercol grandfather which is just lovely. Dates from about the sixties I think, but they still make them. You can get them on ebay or from modern antique fairs.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 08/09/2014 21:30

Ha ha Wanton, that made me laugh! I just think it looks so comfy (I've tried it too...it is very comfy once you're in it but there's no getting up again!) and quite fun. I reckon it would suit our house...if only we had the space!

CromerSutra · 08/09/2014 21:42

I have one like this, I had it recovered so I could put it in my living room once my Dd grew up. It is the most comfy, gorgeous chair imaginable. It's the only piece of furniture I've ever been attached to!
