Dear Taxi Company,

I am emailing you a few concerns I have about my taxi journey from A to B yesterday morning. I was travelling to a family wedding and I was hoping for a calm and friendly journey, as is usually my experience with your company.
The driver made it very clear from the offset that he had no idea where B was and said that as he was new he was unsure why he had been given that job (!).

He had blown cigarette smoke into the boot before we left so I felt I didn't want my luggage (including my bridesmaids dress) in there, but he didn't even ask if I wanted to put my bags in the boot. The journey was uncomfortable as I was squashed.

He programmed his Sat Nav with the st address and Location B and I double checked where we were going. We went the opposite way I was expecting and 15 minutes later I realised that we really were going completely the wrong way. After I told the driver this, he then reprogrammed the sat nav. He realised he had not actually entered the address correctly. He did this ON THE DUEL CARRIAGEWAY. This is, as you will be aware, extremely dangerous and I felt very nervous. The driver did not seem in control of the vehicle at all and was clearly flustered.

Later on in the journey, he came very close to colliding with another vehicle on a roundabout.

I chose Your Company as I have been using your taxis for many years. I have always found your drivers to be friendly, chatty and polite. I'm afraid this driver was an exception as he did not make any attempt to engage in conversation with me and rubbed his thigh throughout the entire journey in a nervous fashion. I'm sure you understand that is unnerving as a female single passenger on a relatively long journey.

As a loyal customer, I will continue to use Your Company in the future and I hope this is a one off occurrence. I hope you understand my concerns. I am passing them on to you to prevent journeys like this happening again, as this driver's conduct was completely unacceptable.

Kind Regards

No need for that part. The rest is okay.

MrsBoldon · 07/09/2014 12:33

I think they'll think you're a bit odd to be honest.

DoingTheSwanThing · 07/09/2014 12:35

It'd be better if spelled dual correctly and lost the unnecessary capitals.

LuluJakey1 · 07/09/2014 12:35

Silly email- witters on. Stick to the main points- the dangerous driving, satnav programming and smoking. If it was a long journey, some polite conversation could be reasonable but the tone of the email is pompous and wittery, not businesslike.

Your valid points (fiddling with the sat nav on the dual carriageway and the car smelling of cigarettes) are lost in the rest of the blurb.

Complaining about his nervous gestures and not talking to you makes you sound a bit...hysterical?

The boot of the car smelled very strongly of cigarettes, meaning I didn't want my luggage (including my bridesmaids dress) in there. As a result the journey was uncomfortable as I had to have my luggage in the back seat.

I used your service to travel to a wedding, unfortunately not only did your driver declare himself to be clueless as to the location of the venue, the journey was made less than comfortable by my having to sit with my luggage, wedding clothes, as he had been smoking into the boot, making it useless to me.

Having incorrectly entered the location into his SatNav he set off and, after 15 minutes, I realised his error and informed him. He chose to re programme his SatNav whilst we proceeded along the dual carriageway. My anxiety regarding his ability to get me to the venue was eroded more by his narrowly missing another vehicle on a roundabout and his continuous display of nervousness, ie lack of conversation and a persistent nervous tick.

I chose Your Company as I have been using your taxis for many years. I have always found your drivers to be friendly, chatty and polite. I'm afraid this driver was an exception as he did not make any attempt to engage in conversation with me and rubbed his thigh throughout the entire journey in a nervous fashion. I am sure you will understand that this has reduced my confidence in your service and, whilst I am not asking for compensation, I would like some assurances that, should I call again, I will be supplied with a competent driver.

Kind Regards

** I am assuming you did not pay for the miles travelled in the wrong direction!

Less emotional, less opinion, more fact.

PuppyMonkey · 07/09/2014 12:40

Not chatting is a positive in my book . Not sure about the rubbing of thighs. Suppose it depends how it was do e- not like Vic Reeves on Shooting Stars I hope.

I wouldn't send the email tbh.

Nomama · 07/09/2014 12:41

Oops! That anxiety bit doesn't make sense.... but you get what I mean!

And my bold went iffy when I added **

My apologies!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/09/2014 12:42

They'll pin it on their notice board for a giggle Grin

Don't use them again, vote with your feet.

Why didn't you ask if your bag could go in the back?Confused

I wouldn't like the smoking, but I'd open the window.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/09/2014 12:44

Perhaps he had a bad leg,I often rub mine as it hurts?

I prefer non talking drivers.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/09/2014 12:48

It makes you sound silly and is far too long and prissy. It's also contradictory - you moan about the boot being smelly and then moan that he didn't ask if you wanted to put your bags in it.

You're paying him to get you from A to B, not to talk to you. If he ignored you when you spoke to him, that might have been a bit different.

Why did you let him drive the wrong way for 15 minutes?

Don't send it. If you must send something, focus only on your concerns about his driving - everything else makes you sound silly, imvho.
