To find dfriend's "baby voice" so annoying

She drives me mad with it, gets her DH to do things for her by putting on a baby voice and saying "oh you do it, (husbands name) do it."

He seems to like it but I find it sickening, AIBU??

She is putting on an 'ickle girlie' voice to get her dh to do things? YANBU to find this annoying. I would be tempted to have her shot - but this might be a bit unreasonable.

pictish · 06/09/2014 22:37

Aghh! How unbearable!

WandaDoff · 06/09/2014 22:38

Shooting would be too good for her SDTG

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 06/09/2014 22:39

Have you not called her a cunt yet?

Rabbitcar · 06/09/2014 22:40

My colleague who is nearly 60 does this (not being ageist, just emphasising that she is far away from being a baby). It makes me want to vom.

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 22:56

Id smack her bottom and put her to bed without her dinner Grin its bloody irritating feeble and just urgh , although I once worked with a woman who put on a baby voice when things didn't go her way her lip used to quiver too

ilovesooty · 06/09/2014 22:58

Perhaps she would realise how irritating it is if you were to tell her?

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 23:02

Maybe its their thing but I can't see mr jay falling for the pwetty pwease baby voice hed laugh at me

GladitsnotJustMe · 06/09/2014 23:06

Hmm I recently overheard my colleague's girlfriend doing this.

She phone him while he was sitting next to me at work. I could hear her normal voice, then it went all high pitched and babyish when she told him she'd found herself at the petrol station with no money. I thought "Oh dear, she's crying"... but then her voice switched back to normal again when she was explaining where she was, before switching back to baby voice "and the nasty man wouldn't let me go, please come and rescue me"

I was a bit Hmm. I guess some women think they need to do this to get their partners to feel sorry for them? Did make me wonder whether my colleague is a doormat...

PiperIsOrange · 06/09/2014 23:07

I think DH would be on the floor in fits of laughter if I did that.

annoyingfriend1 · 06/09/2014 23:09

I know a couple of women who do similar thinking about it, although it's particularly pronounced with this one, I can just imagine her doing the petrol thing.

Yes, have her shot. It's the only way, sorry.

coolaschmoola · 06/09/2014 23:18

My otherwise lovely dsil does this, it makes my skin crawl. She and db now have a baby and they both continuously talk to him in ott baby speak ad nauseum. To the point where I would swear even dn looks at them like this Hmm.

rembrandtsrockchick · 06/09/2014 23:32

"Ooohhh look Bwian"!

"Piggieeeeees"

"I wove piggieeees".

Dozy bitch was 44 years old.

Bwian seemed to love it though.

annoyingfriend1 · 06/09/2014 23:35

Yes the "Bwian" I know loves it too - gross.

My bil does this when talking to my kids. Dd1 now 8 and is not impressed but luckily too polite to say anything to his face but we do get asked why uncle x speaks in such a funny voice. It is utterly cringeworthy he does it to his mother too

kslatts · 06/09/2014 23:59

YANBU - I would find it annoying too.

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/09/2014 00:08

Yanbu

I think my friends/DH would fall over if I ever put on a baby voice.

I once sharply told a friend to "stop speaking like that" before my brain engaged. That was a little awkward...for her.

Bulbasaur · 07/09/2014 02:26

I think most couples use "schmoo talk" and have annoying nick names. But you're not suppose to bring it outside the house or around company. Though sometimes we do on accident

Love makes people stupid. :)
