To think my friend is being really rude?

Not the end of the world but quite annoying!
I'm having a party tonight for a "milestone" birthday and I've got about 15 people coming over - mostly work mates but three old uni mates as well. Feeling a bit sensitive about having such a low key do for a big birthday, but I don't know many people up here. Sad

I'm very close to one of my old uni mates (male but he's gay, no romance!) and we're very frank with each other but he's managed to piss me off by asking if he could watch X Factor while the party's on.

I thought he was joking at first but eventually explained everyone will be chatting and I was hoping he would chat to some of my work friends, particularly the NQTs - (we're all teachers.)

He got really arsey with me and couldn't understand why I didn't want him sitting in the middle of the party room watching X Factor. I don't have a big house and we'll likely all be in the living room most of the time so having the telly on would be a right conversation killer.

As I said, it's not the end of the world, but AIBU??

Yes that is a shame, diddl! There's SO much food and drink here it's unreal. Just found an unopened bottle of tanqueray gin!!

(Though to counter that pleasantness, my cat has just brought in a dead wren and presented it to my kitten as a play thing)
