I DIDN'T!

But WIBU to have said it?

I have signed up with an agency for temporary work. Made it clear I can only do Wednesdays and Fridays as these are the days my daughter is in nursery but I didn't go into any detail on this.

I had a phone call this morning which I was annoyed about as DH was obviously "oh who is that?" and when I said "no, I can't do anything today" I got quizzed as to whether I was working, what was I doing, who for, would I be available this day in future?

I was asleep, so to be honest I was a bit put out!

I don't understand - do you think it's none of your DH's business or the agency?

Wordsmith · 02/09/2014 16:54

I's just reiterate that it was Tuesday, and you're only available on Wednesdays and Fridays. And if they persisted then, yes, say it's none of their business!

Notacs · 02/09/2014 16:56

Agency - it was just annoying as the phone woke both of us up; DH was asking who it was and to be honest I wanted a calm morning for once

I am more concerned that you seem worried about your husbands attitude towards you receiving a phone call.

Agencies are busy places, childcare can often be reshuffled, they had work and were giving you the opportunity to earn some money.

Besides if you didnt go into much detail as to why you can only work two specific days, then maybe you should have made it clearer.

Piss the agency off though, and you wont get any more calls from them.

Notacs · 02/09/2014 16:57

Wordsmith - what was annoying was that I said "sorry, I can't work Tuesdays." Then I got this jolly, smooth voice - "ooh, working elsewhere are you ... Where are you working? ... Oh, you're not working ... What are you up to?" FUCK OFF!

Spring, they didn't actually have work. They were asking to see if I was available for work if any came in. I wasn't and had made that clear the other week when I signed up with them.

I would rather get no work than have to deal with rude awakenings like that 3 days a week. I had been up with DD several times in the night and to be honest I wanted some sleep!

Turn your phone off when you're asleep?

ILovePud · 02/09/2014 17:16

YANBU, how rude and bizarre that they tried to quiz you like that! I'm assuming it was landline if DH answered but if it's your mobile I'd keep it switched off in the mornings from now on.

Notacs · 02/09/2014 17:21

I know, I should do I suppose (mobile) but I never like switching my mobile off in the admittedly highly unlikely event of an emergency!

Just so rude.

CromerSutra · 02/09/2014 17:23

They sound really odd! What's it to them?!

ILovePud · 02/09/2014 17:25

Will anyone who needs to contact you at that time of the morning have alternative means, landline or DP's number? I think that agency worker's behaviour was quite inappropriate and if they're prepared to disregard normal boundaries by quizzing you like that I wouldn't bank on them not doing it again.

ilovesooty · 02/09/2014 17:37

They're probably instructed to find out if you're working for their competitors.
I would email them and reiterate that you are only available on those days and ask them not to contact you re alternative days again.

Notacs · 02/09/2014 17:42

Thanks, I'll do that.

There is a landline but hardly anyone knows/uses it and emergencies would obviously go through me, not DH really.

I'm just grumpy through lack of sleeps!

They're salespeople at the end of the day. And they don't give a fuck.

It's a personal question, but I wouldn't take it personally, because it won't be personal to them.

(Apologies to any decent rc's reading, you are in the minority and well done to you).

Notacs · 02/09/2014 18:36

They are so annoying! They even annoyed me at "interview."

Do they just recruit the most annoying people in the world ever!?

I secretly believe most salespeople are a bit unstable tbh.
