To think that Aysha is another part of a police cover up?

Why is one little boy taking up so much police time and money? And why is he being talked about so much and taking up so much news coverage? Yes it's extremely sad, but every day there are thousands of sad cases around the world that we aren't that interested in.

Lots of people can't understand why the police are going in so heavy handed.

Does anyone else think it might be to stop us talking about this?

The report on Rotheram doesn't take away from other crimes or incidents happening elsewhere. I don't understand the idea that the police in other forces shouldn't be dealing with 'lesser important' incidents because another force has a more serious one? How does that work?

LiberalLibertines · 02/09/2014 08:33

The Rotherham situation has had loads of coverage though?

I'm sure the media is used to manipulate, distract and influence, every day, but I don't think these two cases are part of that no.

olgaga · 02/09/2014 08:38

I think the case has more to do with the attitude of some NHS consultants towards ordinary people, who they assume are all ignorant, emotional and dangerous.

Mellowdramatically · 02/09/2014 08:38

Glad to know you've read it ici. The threads about Aysha are massively populated compared to Rotherham threads.

Rotherham doesn't catch the imagination but the researchers think it can - and is happening in lots more cases.

I've been away so missed panorama will catch up with that.

Also people keep saying it's a massive overreaction by the hospital and police, but what if the battery had run out and the little boy became very ill or worse? Everyone would now be saying that they should have done something and that for the hospital should be called to account. They can't win.

I have it on good authority that this is a completely misleading red herring. These feeding machines are mains operated with a build in rechargeable back up battery. They can even be connected to the car's electricity supply. It's a non issue.

Mellowdramatically · 02/09/2014 08:40

Ashya is just one boy, tragic though it is. There are thousands of children living in tragic situations all around the world. Are they not worth as much?

Pagwatch · 02/09/2014 08:41

Yes, I've read the Rotherham report.
What a bizarre question. Are you trying to imply that because I don't believe that this case is a deliberate distraction from the Rotherham report I must be some dimwit who simply doesn't understand?
That's a breathtakingly arrogant assumption.

The Rotherham case is horrendous. In my opinion the handling of this case is horrendous. I findit perfectly feasible that there is more than one incidence of incompetence at the same time.

AuntieStella · 02/09/2014 08:42

Media priorities often leave me confused, bemused or even outraged.

But I don't think the actions of the Hampshire police now are in any way related to the historic actions of the Yorkshire police.

Nor that the Hampshire police, or any other official body, had control of the timing of Ashya's operation or his family's subsequent actions in order to devise and launch a psyops initiative.

Do conspiracy theorists ever think things through? Or is the next iteration of this going to be that the family were in on it?

Pagwatch · 02/09/2014 08:43

Firesidechat

The battery could be recharged. Its not a risk.

Mellowdramatically · 02/09/2014 08:44

I'm quite clear that chief officers of Hampshire and South Yorkshire could help each other out.

No, but I am deeply uneasy about all the time and effort that had been put into pursuing people who have actually not committed any crime at all. I'd be fascinated to know on what grounds the European Arrest Warrant was issued. And I really really didn't like the closing comment at the end of the BBC update on the story this morning. After talking about how Aysha's parents wanted to take him to the Proton Therapy Clinic in Romania (think it was Romania) and that they might be released by a Spanish judge today, they closed the piece by making some snidey point about how the poor child will possibly now be dragged to another foreign country in search of treatment. Nasty.

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2014 08:47

News is covered by what is happening now the other case ongoing but still been covered you cant say what is more important

Mellowdramatically · 02/09/2014 08:48

Nothing personal pag it's just that a lot of people were dismissing the notion of a cover up with no argument.

The first 10 minutes of bbc news the other night were about Aysha I just can't understand it.

I just think the police know how to manipulate the press - and us.

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 02/09/2014 08:48

Of course police forces can collaborate.

But for these two to do so in the time frame required would mean they needed the familiy's co-operation for the timings to work. Is that what you are suggesting?

cattypussclaw · 02/09/2014 08:49

And agree with olgaga's comment big time.

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2014 08:49

Itv are on the side of the parents if you want to watch that news

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/09/2014 08:50

There is more to Aysha's case than meets the eye, of course there is. Social workers may have been involved for years, there may have been previous care orders, the hospital will not release confidential information and so on.

So as far as that goes, I see your point.

It being a 'cover up' for Rotherham? No.

Mellowdramatically · 02/09/2014 08:51

Stella it didn't have to be Aysha but I bet they're rubbing their hands together that this scenario came along. The hype is in part of their making.

OP posts:
firesidechat · 02/09/2014 08:53

Fair enough Pagwatch. I've avoided the threads on this case because I have a feeling that they would annoy me. I still hold the view that removing a sick child from a hospital, taking that child abroad and not seeking immediate medical attention was a bit misguided. No one comes out of this covered in glory as far as I can see.

beccajoh · 02/09/2014 08:54

I don't believe there's any relation between the cases in terms of media coverage.

I don't understand why Aysha's parents took him overseas to have proton treatment, but then appear to have gone elsewhere entirely.

AuntieStella · 02/09/2014 08:54

"After talking about how Aysha's parents wanted to take him to the Proton Therapy Clinic in Romania (think it was Romania) and that they might be released by a Spanish judge today, they closed the piece by making some snidey point about how the poor child will possibly now be dragged to another foreign country in search of treatment. Nasty."

Accurate isn't it? (though the report didn't use emotive language). If Ashya had been taken straight to the country of intended treatment, or even was travelling in that general direction, then circumstances might be rather different.

But as we have only partial accounts from some of those involved, it's possible that all sorts of things people believe now will be proved wrong or misguided.

FrancesNiadova · 02/09/2014 08:55

No.

firesidechat · 02/09/2014 08:55

Why on earth would they be rubbing their hands? They have nothing to do with each other. Your attention span must be very limited if you can only concentrate on one news story at a time.

AuntieStella · 02/09/2014 08:58

"Stella it didn't have to be Aysha but I bet they're rubbing their hands together that this scenario came along. The hype is in part of their making."

Agree. But it was Ashya and I still cannot see how they could have devised and launched a media deception campaign in the time available unless the timing of the flight was also part of the plan. Which makes your theory possible only if the conspirators include the family themselves.

Pagwatch · 02/09/2014 08:58

I didn't take it personally Mellowdramatically. Smile
I just responded personally. I still think implying that the only reason people disagree with you is because they don't understand/arn't informed enough on the issue, is a bit off.
