Person 1 in a park chatting to a friend. Has a dog on a standard length lead.

Person 2 walks past with a 3 year old.

Dog jumps up and scratches child as person 1 talks to friend.

Person 2 gives evils and comforts sobbing child but says nothing to dog owner.

Person 1 thinks they did nothing wrong as dog was on lead and child walked too close.

Who was BU?

And even if you are and these things happen you still need to say sorry.

CromerSutra · 31/08/2014 16:12

Oh ok, you did ask if the toddler was ok, apologies if I missed that. No need for their evil look then, they turned away and didn't 't give you a chance to apologise anyway.

SirChenjin · 31/08/2014 16:17

She was probably more concerned about a)checking her child was OK and b)getting away from you to stand and wait for an apology which may or may not have been forthcoming.

People are idiots. If someone walked that close to me, our puppy could very easily wack a child in the face even if i was holding his collar!

ArabellaTarantella · 31/08/2014 16:27

Person 2 and child came from behind

Then Person 1 had no chance, did they? Assuming Person 1 wasn't clairvoyant, then YABU that it is Person 1's fault. Person 2 is clearly at fault for putting the child in danger.

i must say it sounds like not a lot happened! A scratch from a jumping puppy when the toddler was led that close is a bit like a scratch from a tree branch that the parent walked their child through or a splash from a puddle. Just one of those things that happens in the great outdoors, especially if you're not watching your child that closely. There isn't always someone to blame, sometimes accidents just happen!

If it was my puppy, I'd have apologised out of sheer over-politeness but it's silly if the parent gave evils! With that attitude they'll be dishing out a lot of evils Grin
