It was working in theatres.

I only check my emails once a day and that's around this time as DC are asleep and I can concentrate on them, just found out.

This is the first job I ever applied for, my current one was through a recommendation which is cleaning in the Nhs which I have done for 11 years.

What could of gone wrong. I was perfect for the job.

Cleaned theatres, 11 years internal work experience, up to date with all in house training and the qualifications. Please don't say it because I only have 1 reference

Oh... I was reading this thinking why is everyone saying it's an NHS job, she did that before but now wants to work in the theatre (acting)? Doh!

Sorry you didn't get an interview. Problem is this job will have appealed to so many.

My advice from the recruiting side is they may score your CV against the job description. So tailor your CV or application form statement so that it actually links to what they are asking for. e.g. I have shown teamwork in project X doing project Y.

If you have worked in one place a long time give two references from there, one should be your boss, the other could be an old boss or senior colleague or just someone there who thinks you are fab. Two references is standard in case one is your best mate!

Thanks all, will do what is suggested and hopefully get a new job.

It took me so long to pluck up the courage to apply for a new job.

I interviewed for 4 separate (similar!) jobs at my current company before being offered a role. Persistence pays! I am now very happy where I am.

Have you kept a copy of the job spec and your application? You could book a free appointment with a careers adviser and get some feedback if so.

There's a real art to applications - well done for taking that first step.
