Band Practice

I live in the ground floor flat of a block of three council flats. The newish neighbours in the middle flat are having what sounds like band practice. There's not much sound proofing between the flats so it's really loud and very repetitive as they keep redoing bits. I can also hear their three week old crying during lulls in the music. Aibu in thinking this is totally unacceptable or am I just being a miserable cow because I was enjoying my 4.5 month old dd's long nap and now she's waking up

This one time at band camp........(Sorry I had too)

Not sure what you can do since it's during the day, maybe call the Council EH, they need sound proofing.

We've asked for better sound proofing till we're blue in the face. They don't care.

why cant people hire a hall? its not that much.

we had this with upstars neighbours in a flat we had. ended up moving.

before we did I complained to env health and their instruments were confiscated, apparently 'live' music is illegal in flats (check out council website or your blocks) and they made noise with stereos, thumping stamping and deliberately dropping pans and things on floor in retaliation (after a few polite requests from me may I add , if they could rehearse somewhere else .)

Also, I cant imagine what all that noise is doing to their tiny baby.

BackforGood · 26/08/2014 19:00

I guess it depends how long it's for and how often it happens.
Have you tried talking to them to see if there can be some agreed limit on it, and a time that you at least know might be the best time of day for you to be out and about doing your errands.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 26/08/2014 19:02

seriously, really think its against the law in flats. and tenancy agreements.

and yy about the noise and their baby.

bet they wouldn't like it if YOU played loud music and woke their baby.

Roobix04 · 26/08/2014 19:08

It's been about three hours.I must admit apart from the odd bit of guitar playing and singing to the baby this is the first time it's happened. I'm worried that it'll become a regular thing now that they're a bit more settled. They aren't very stealthy people. They stamp about and slam doors all night tending to the baby but until today they were 100% better then every other neighbour we've had up there in the last five years.
Maybe I'm just complaining about nothing. I'll have dp go up later and have a word

YABU. Your problem, you deal with it. Grow some balls and get up there yourself.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 27/08/2014 16:22

agree with Piper, also you haven't even looked at your tenancy or looked at council website have you? like I suggested?

please do all things suggested before you let us know what happened.
