To be pissed off with friends sharing "Britain First" posts on facebooks

I am depressed by the sheer number of neathantals who share xenophobic posts from Britain First. I really don't want to defriend these people, but I don't want messages all over my facebook profile.

I have no problem with people who want more controls on immigration, but "Britain First" is akin to facists parties of the 1940s. There is a huge difference between intelligent debate on how to control the UKs boarders/ population size and outright racism.

I wish that there was a facebook app that would stop "Britain First" links appearing on my facebook newsfeed when stupid people comment or share a link.

When reading this thread, I thought it's making a mountain out of a molehill, overreaction, then I clucked on the links and I was shocked. It's like the BNP but worse, they cannot spell. Britain Furst wtf! get an education, they are just uneducated Neanderthals. Did they not know that the human race began from Africa! That would be enough to send them over the edge!

Aeroflotgirl · 20/08/2014 15:58

I am shocked at the images. I really don't think that those sharing the pictures know really what or who are behind them, a couple of my friends who shared pictures would be shocked and disgusted.

Aeroflotgirl · 20/08/2014 15:59

As has been said they pick on very popular topics and what has been in the media to support their racist ideas.

SistersOfPercy · 20/08/2014 16:01

Do you realise that what you are saying is "some of my friends are fascists. I am happy to stay friends with them as long as I don't see or hear anything that reminds me they are fascists.

This.
And precisely for this reason I deleted 95% of DH's family. I don't suffer fools, it's my timeline, my page and my choice what I want to see on their and fascist nonsense isn't part of it. Post it and you are gone.

Thanks for the link Shopafrolic
I agree with those who have said someone in the party is pretty clever with the marketing of popular images, and the campaign to get so many "likes" from people who would hate what they actually stand for, if they knew a little more about them.
A person I am FB Friends with likes / shares quite a few of their posts, and he would be mortified (am now going to share shopafrolic's link with him) as he is quite vocal in campaigning for freedom and equality for all.

Either block them or undermine every single post with a comment. The latter can be quite fun.

NellysKnickers · 20/08/2014 19:57

Are you completely sure the posts aren't from Britain Furst, a parody site. I post these as they are hilarious sometimes but have had to explain to a lot of people that I'm not a raving bigot.

Inertia · 20/08/2014 20:15

My mum posted these. I challenged them and explained why I had a problem with them, and the more constructive alternatives I'd used to make contribution to the issue they were hijacking. She has avoided posting since. I don't want to break contact with my mum, I would rather challenge the Daily Mail / BF crap she trots out without actually checking the truth of.

OneSkinnyChip · 20/08/2014 20:27

It is more important to educate people about them rather than just immediately blocking. They are devious about posting heartwarming WW1 Veteran pics so that people get suckered into a lazy like. I have seen a couple of nice older people I know liking these pics. I then explained that they were actually liking a hatefest site and they were horrified and unliked and blocked the site.

Obviously if your friends actually like the foul xenophobes block away.

EmpressOfBedlam · 20/08/2014 20:38

I have entailed a couple of friends who have shared these informing them of what they are actually sharing. Both friends had no idea and removed them ASAP.
