to ask for school recommendations in Scotland?

Thinking of moving and currently dc go to a tiny rural 30 pupil school. They are happy there but i definitely feel they could do with more friends. Dd2 has no friends her own age as only one in her yr group.

We want to stay in Scotland and need to be within an 1hr/1.5hr of Glasgow.

Any one recommend anywhere that has smallish schools (dont want a huge culture shock for dcs) and can buy a prefereably detached 3 bed house for around 180-230k.

Happy being in the sticks as long as can do Glasgow in 1.5 hrs.

TIA

My daughter is only 7 months old so I can't comment on the schools but I live in dalry and there are some lovely houses well within your budget.

I grew up just outside of ayr and to be honest alloway I think you may struggle to find what you want with your budget, but ayr is a lovely place. It's only an hour out of Glasgow by car, 45mins by train so good for commuting in (I have plenty of friends there who do it). East ayrshire you'll get lots for your money but personally I would avoid Kilmarnock, horrible place (sorry all you Kilmarnock residents) ,stewarton is a nice wee town (used to work there) but again no knowledge of the schools.

I love Stewarton. Used to live there and still have many friends there. Dunlop too. Happy with schools there also.

Ayr is a bit too far south given the need to travel to helensburgh/oban.

Going to be tough to find something. Dh and I already arguing about what we would be willing to compromise on. He likes unusual period houses. So do I but i am more interested in area/schools. I also would preger traditional but given i am the diyer in my house we really should go for easy to maintain. Grr...
