Can you put it into context for us? Grin

steff13 · 16/08/2014 22:44

Example?

CooCooCachoo · 16/08/2014 22:45

In an Enid Blytonesque sort of way?

CremeEggThief · 16/08/2014 22:46

Em, are you an old Chaletian? Wink

Topping word!

NormHonal · 16/08/2014 22:47

Has to be in an Enid Blyton-styleeee.

Else, you are being totes unreasonable. Grin

MajesticWhine · 16/08/2014 22:48

YANBU. DH regularly says "marvellous", mostly to shop assistants or on the phone. But wizard is better.

ScarlettDarling · 16/08/2014 22:48

Not at all..dd and i are currently reading the malory towers books and have developed a great love of 'wizard' used as an adjective !

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 22:51

It just occasionally happens... and I have never even read Enid B Shock.

Most recent example was excitement over a goal (football). Has also been used in relation to music tracks and pictures of dogs, etc., by the DC. If I quote myself directly, I may never regain self respect.

No, sounds jolly smashing.

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 22:53

That's a relief, Majestic and Scarlett.

OP posts:
Ledkr · 16/08/2014 22:53

Do you say it about lashings of lemonade?

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 23:06

I should, Ledkr.

It sounds a bit Brizzle to me.

You from them parts?

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 23:11

Yes, actually, IScream. Am I absolved?

OP posts:
slithytove · 16/08/2014 23:24

YABU to use it to describe football.

Lacrosse on the other hand...

Gemling · 17/08/2014 00:48

I use "spiffing" and "ripping" regularly. It irritates people rather beautifully.

IScreamForIceCream · 17/08/2014 10:15

Yes, you are gert absolved.

Yeah, I know that was wrong. But you are still hereby absolved Grin

OverAndAbove · 17/08/2014 10:17

I like it. I don't use it regularly, although I do often say marvellous, super and jolly. But said in the right context, it's simply splendid!

jeee · 17/08/2014 10:20

Are you Jennings? Do you use 'Ozard' as its antonym? If not, I rather think YABU.

IneedAwittierNickname · 17/08/2014 10:21

I say spiffing a lot too Gemling and wizard. They are super words. As oh Oh golly gosh

OverAndAbove · 17/08/2014 10:23

Ozard I had totally forgotten about that Grin

TalcumPowder · 17/08/2014 10:24

Only if you have just discovered some smugglers in a secret cave and you are about to sit down to a picnic of potted meat sandwiches, tinned peaches and lashings of ginger beer.

MajesticWhine · 17/08/2014 10:37

I learnt yesterday that sadly the quote "lashings of ginger beer" does not actually appear in any of the famous five books.

MajesticWhine · 17/08/2014 10:38

...which I must say was a bit of a blow

Rokenswife · 17/08/2014 10:52

I've not read any EB books but 'marvellous' and 'splendid' are words that I use frequently. I think I will start using 'wizard'!
