Aibu to think Londoners are, in fact, neither rude nor unfriendly?

I've read that they are quite a lot on here, and my experience couldn't be more different. I had to travel down to London on Saturday for a difficult reason, and without exception very stranger I talked to was fabulously kind and helpful, and in fact one of them has made friends with me on facebook and asked how things have been since and could she help in any way at all in the future.

When I came back to England to live, twenty years ago, following the sudden death of my darling husband, everyone said 'Ooooh, London, you'll HATE it, everyone's unfriendly and horrible'.

Utter rubbish. The day I moved in (huge foreign removal van outside my new house, meaning everyone had to manoeuvre carefully around it), people couldn't have been nicer. Neighbours, postman all came to say 'hello', offered to help bring stuff in, brought me drinks and snacks.

Later, local pub offered me free standing heaters when my central heating wouldn't work, and offered to dispose of my rubbish until the council sorted out my bins!

I've got to know well all the local shopkeepers, stall holders in local market - the local minicab firm invited me to the owner's son's wedding!

Now, I'm pretty ancient, still have lovely neighbours (all much younger than I). I think Londoners are great!
