is reading it? Grin

I know there have been situations where the subject comes online and tells OP off.

Also, has anyone ever done an AIBU pretending to be someone else?

All of mine. I'm really David Cameron. All right, Matron, I'm coming.

I have occasionally worried that people might suspect they know who I am but never really thought the subjects of the posts have been reading...except my dog AIBU. Which for a dog thread on this board went really well, except for when I got told off by a poster for responding too much Hmm

Never pretended to be someone else. I have seen how much people hate reverse posts!

fun1nthesun · 13/08/2014 17:45

hahahahhaa

Yes reverse posts never go down well, in fact there was some talk of banning them...

That's like a mythical unobtainable treasure to me.

The only time I've seen people who know each other irl bump into and have it out with each other on a forum was on eBay. I was a lurker though and it dampened the whole experience for me to be honest.

I'd be there like a shot if if I came across it here.

There was a recent thread that was deleted when the subject got very angry and put the OP's name on.

Also, a famous thread about a joint party (might be in classics) where the subject came on to give her side of the story. I think that one ended nicely though :)

I've seen people wonder if threads are about them regularly.... Wink

Which one was that, fun?

I have been the subject of an AIBU. I was tempted to jump in with a "oh really OP? And shall I tell MN why I really made the decision which p*ssed you off? (As opposed to the softly softly/tactful approach I took?) " But instead I waited to watch the responses & OP was found to be totally U by the MN jury. So I settled for a glass of wine & a smug face instead Grin

I open every AIBU thread about neglected neighbour gardens/annoying neighbour dogs/useless or unreasonable friends, etc, out of paranoia it'll turn out to be about me. Blush

Usually it isn't.

Well, having had people find me online before, I'm mildly careful about what I post about people. But really, now I just find jobs and hang out with people I can talk to directly instead of having to suck it up. So no need to vent online.

I do enjoy lurking on threads and chatting though. :)

I think if I found one about me, I'd probably just feel terrible I upset someone enough to make an entire thread to bitch about me laugh and then pretend I never saw it to avoid awkward confrontation, unless it was serious.

I did once post a long rant about my SiL who was staying. Turned into 18 pages of me basically bitching and half the posters Shock with shock and the other half Hmm with disbelief at what I was posting.

I then spent most of her stay white with fear that her or MiL would somehow read it and it would cause a massive showdown.

Begged MNHQ to delete it and name changed.

Got away with it!!
