To write a covering letter

There is a job advertised in a local pharmacist. Its part time and the advert is in the window - dispenser required, apply within.

I have just printed out my cv after a little tweek or six but i am not even sure if they want a cv or not. I was going to ask yesterday but had been gardening and looked like a navvy so didn't go in. I printed my cv today just in case they wanted one but i assume that actually there is an applicatiopn form? Would a covering letter be overkill?

I am posting here because i need to go and do this now or never (anxious)

I would write the cover letter, take it with you and ask about the job if they just say to hand in cv and cover letter then you do it right there. If they have a form to fill in then you can get it while you're in there :)

Good luck!

I would never judge someone who offered a CV and letter when it wasn't needed. I do judge people who don't supply these things. Take it in and shoe them you're prepared.

Go in with your CV and covering letter and your best confident smile. Good luck!

I did the covering letter. Glad I did as one of the assistants said she would hand it to the pharmacist. I did remember to smile but they were hectic busy so didn't get a chance to say anything other than here's my cv. Not heard anything though :(

Was there a closing date on the advert? Usually people don't get contacted until after the (maybe undisclosed) closing date and shortlisting process as it all has to be above board.

LEMmingaround · 14/08/2014 15:15

No. Just a sign in the window. Was hoping this would mean fewer applicants and less formal.

I still think they'll have to go through a set, formal process to cover themselves, especially as you'd have access to medications and people's personal information. So don't give up just yet. I agree there may be fewer applicants but I'd expect what ever body regulates pharmacies will expect strict procedures to be followed.

I guess. I am overqualified which hopefully wont put them off. This is the first job ive applied for since my breakdown. It would be perfect. Arggghhhhhh

Fingers crossed for you. I recruit in a totally different field, but over qualification never puts me off, actually its a bonus as I think "broader life-experience, brighter, learn quickly, may be able to give more responsibility to than job description".

Thanks :)
