To feed the 9 month old from pouches for a few days

Because I'm so sick of cleaning the floor, the high hair, me and her every day, three times a day!

We are doing BLW, and she refuses to be spoon fed anyway, but we discovered on a recent trip that she will suck food directly from the pouches (first I've ever given her to be honest). They normally get porridge, sandwich/scrambled egg, home cooked tea for their meals (tuna tomato pasta, salmon risotto, chicken fajitas, ratatouille, etc)

She's going through some sort of sleep regression, the 3 year old needs tearing away from the tv, and I'm knackered.

So, WIBU? (Only half joking....)

YANBU.

Buy some Ella's pouches and don't stress. I'm pretty sure you can also buy empty ones and fill them yourself which I would be tempted to do for at least 1 meal a day going forward. But give yourself a break for a few days. It won't hurt her!!

shalo2 · 13/08/2014 09:27

My DD loves Ella's pouches. She has combination of pouches and our food. Don't bother with the jars though as the pouches are definitely packed with more flavour.
I don't stress it ...I find it impossible to make all her food 100% of the time.

EmmanuelWoganberry · 13/08/2014 09:27

YANBU, it won’t hurt her to eat pouches for a few days.

If I can’t be bothered with the cleanup we eat outdoors, it’s a shame it’s getting colder now.

WanderingTrolley1 · 13/08/2014 09:31

Ywnbu.

Ooh thought I'd be told to not be so lazy!

I would eat outside but so much food gets scattered I'd worry about attracting rats to the house

Go for it. It's not like they're filled with poison.

odyssey2001 · 13/08/2014 09:35

Go for it. We did it for our 3.5yo for a couple of days after dental work because our was easier and didn't feel one pang of inadequacy. YADNBU.

My Son used to love sucking the food out if the pouch, I used to use them on days when I hadn't been overly organised or I wanted a break from cleaning up bits (we took a BLW approach)

TheRealMaudOHara · 13/08/2014 09:38

YANBU it is depressing dealing with the constant cycle of food and cleaning up. DS isn't a great eater either so often by the end of the meal it's everywhere and I don't even feel satisfied he's had a good meal. Give yourself a break!

Sootgremlin · 13/08/2014 09:49

I wouldn't think twice about doing this. We were on holiday camping just after my second born started weaning, she was on pouches for a week. No different really, if it's convenient for a short time then do it.

Dd is 8 months and she mainly eats what/when we eat, I freeze a few portions for when she can't, I have a few pouches in for when we're out or nothing in freezer.

She feeds herself and eats from a spoon. Whatever works!

Rosebug258 · 13/08/2014 09:56

My 7 month old has them, recently more as I can't really blend salad and his hand to mouth coordination is rubbish :)
I spend more time cleaning than he does eating.

It won't hurt at all. Yanbu at all

Marmiteandjamislush · 13/08/2014 10:04

If it works for you and your family, YANBU

Mrsgrumble · 13/08/2014 10:11

Go for it
