To accept a job in a huge, busy soft play Barn? (Light Hearted)

Last week I found myself without a job. I asked around, as one does, and was told that a local Farm Shop needed bakery Staff.
I subsequently rang up and was offered an interview the same day. I attended and was given a job! Part of my job involves baking for the Farm Shop (which I have extensive experience of) and part of it involves helping the ladies who run the on-site Play Barn.
It is HUGE. And being extended! I did my first week last week and it was utterly manic. Queuing a mile long, kitchen absolutely flat out.

What have I done?

The pay is very good and I am very grateful of a job. Does anyone else have experience of working in a similar place?

Are the horror stories to be believed?

Thanks :)

No helpful advice, but you're a braver woman than I could ever be...Grin

It will, hopefully, be quieter when the summer holidays are over.

Good Luck!

I have worked in a few tourist places which were crackers. You do need a lot of energy but you will also experience quiet times...now is the busiest it will be apart from Halloween and Christmas. Stick with it...it sounds good to me.

Thanks everyone, I am enjoying it.

DD2 waitresses at a big soft play place; it was manic at the weekend, because of the weather. She loves it though, they are excellent employers, and treat their staff extremely well.

It's always worse when the weather is bad; as soon as the sun comes out, the place quietens down.

I used to work in a soft play place supervising children in the play area and the occasional bit of waitressing. One child did a humongous shit in the ball pool and I had to clean it up. I was sacked for 'not being enthusiastic enough' Hmm

Your new job sounds a whole lot better though! I like being super busy as it makes the day go faster. Baking sounds fab. Congrats Smile

You've probably started at the right time. It's the busiest time of the year. Everything after this will seem a breeze by comparison. Smile
