My other half turns 30 in 8 weeks. Finding it really hard to pick a gift or surprise him with anything ? His ex didnt do anything to celebrate his 18th or 21st as she was older and felt it would make her look silly. I just want to make him feel special? Any help would be great! :)

Long weekend away (sort of a present for me too ).

Trip to Amsterdam for his 30th which was a right result for me as I came away engaged with a diamond ring!

Beautiful watch he loved (and chose) for his 40th

I also (shared with the test of our family) bought him a virtual reality bike trainer for Christmas one year which he really loved

For DH's 30th we were stony broke, due to baby, bad wages and illness.

So I recreated parts of his childhood - box of his favourite sweets, his favourite childhood movies on DVD, a game he really wanted as a child but didn't get and homemade cupcakes with h a p p y b i r t h d a y on them.

It was small gifts wise but it brought DH to tears. Thought it'd be nice to say it can be done on a budget too!

I took husband to Glasgow for Commonwealth games for his 30th, posh hotel at Loch Lomond and tickets for Rugby 7s. It was great!

A dry stone walling course for his 40th. He loved it.

Big gifts have been city breaks, number plate and drone helicopter.

Am planning tickets to either the F1 or an England rugby game at Twickenham.

H proposed on my 30th (basically because he couldn't think what to get me and it was cheaper to buy an engagement ring rather than 30th present then engagement ring 6 months later Grin).

For H's 30th birthday, we had 6 month old twins. We had a night in a uninspiring hotel 2 miles down the road whilst I sobbed most of the night at leaving them for the first time and expressed to keep my supply up

He is 40 is 18 months. I have been saving £25 a month for the last 6 months, and will carry on doing so and we're hopefully (subject to my parents looking after children) going to have long weekend in a ski resort. Will be a whistlestop tour but I think he'll like it.

I gave DH a baby on his 30th birthday. Bought him a fancy watch for his 35th as he went on for a few years about his birthday always being overshadowed by DS's (very true).

I'm saving up for his 40th to take him to Florence as a surprise (he's always wanted to go).

TipseyTorvey · 12/08/2014 09:50

For DH's 30 I bought him a race car driving experience which he thought was fab, then for his 40th got him a flight experience in a prop plane which he loved. For 50th he's angling for a space trip - dream on....

Hi Everyone, It wont let me log into my acc with my name so have had to set up a new acc. Some of these ideas are great. I love the poems and little treasure hunt! Cant wait to surprise him! Thanks Everyone!! :)

Planned a surprise day at the Festival of Speed with a few of his friends, surprise week away, and a digital SLR camera. Don't know how I'll ever match all that for his next big birthday!

DH a few years ago - Parachute jump (out of a tiny plane).

XH many years ago - A trip up in a helicopter and a few moments flying it himself.

(why do i keep sending husbands up in the air? Hmm)
