To not like eating in restaurants with food all over the floor?

I'm wondering if this is just me.

We used to eat out a fair bit in well known family friendly places, just when out and about. And it used to drive me mad that we'd be seated at a table, and you could almost guarantee that there'd be small piles of dropped food all around the table on the floor, usually nicely squashed into the floor and a bit on my chair. Not to mention sticky half wiped tables and grimy cutlery and plates. It really puts me off.

I've given up eating out as much now, and just avoid certain places. I do still like eating out but pick my places now.

I should add I grin and bear it if I'm in the company of others who've chosen the place, and just smile and say it was lovely.

I also hate, really really hate when you go to a pub, go to find a table in the nice garden to find that most have no fewer than 6-7 fag butts dropped all around the table or worse still stuffed into the gaps in the benches.

I always try to leave an area as I found it and not leave a huge mess behind.

I now have a reputation as being fussy with dp.

Is this really fussy? I'll accept if I am fussy.

Absolutely not fussy!

Yanbu about the dirty plates and cutlery.

The fag butts - that's down to people being idiots and not disposing properly. The food on the floor ideally people would clean up after themselves (I know I know "I don't go out to clean etx etc) and if not the staff should brush up inbetween but in a busy place I can see why that doesn't happen as much as it ideally should.

Not fussy.

I have a weaning baby and toddler and they can create a bit of mess when out, I always clean up after them and pick bits off the floor, it's a shame more people don't do that, however it is up to the restaurant staff to make sure it's clear before the next sitting. Regardless of it being poor etiquette to leave a mess for others to clear, it is ultimately their job.

I think places just want to cram as many people in as quickly as possible so won't take the time to sweep up before the next person.

It's obvious, that why some situate tables so close together that you're practically sitting with the people next to you.

Dp thinks I'm weird because I'd rather take a picnic to the park sometimes than eat in a grotty place.

He gets put off by the prospect of insects whereas I find stepping in people's leftovers worse.
