To think saggy belly after childbirth can be fixed?

rach6122 · 10/08/2014 14:29

Without surgery. Two babies in quick succession, weight coming off nicely. Starting to notice belly is getting bit saggy and droopy, please someone tell me they gave managed to sort this through working out? I'm willing to work hard. Any other suggestions welcome. Ps I know it will never look the same but want to minimise the droop!

triken you look amazing thanks for posting inspriationl pic

BornFreeButinChains · 11/08/2014 19:45

trikken how did you do it. and how long has it taken

missorinoco · 11/08/2014 19:49

I am deeply envious of all of you who have a flat stomach.
I only ever had one briefly pre the DC, and I weighed my lowest at 7 1/2 stone.

Despite exercises/ oblique crunches/ JM BFBM etc I have a layer of padding over my now toned stomach muscles. No spltting of the recti to blame.

My skin elasticity has gone also.

Pfffft.

Surreyblah and showy - I have DR and hate my tummy even 2 years since giving birth. Am seeing a women's health physio finally and have bought the Mutu programme but feel so down and can't believe i'll never not look 5 months pregnant again, despite being a size 12... Give me hope? Tell me more!

trikken · 11/08/2014 19:57

Oops. Thank you, ive been calorie counting and I try to hula hoop 20 mins a day, sometimes I do less though and sometimes a bit more. I did do the shred for a bit but not much, it was too hard going for me. I walk a lot more than I did too. I didn't realise how bad my tummy was until I saw that pic. Worst thing was I thought my tum looked a bit better that morning as i got dressed as was wearing my spsnx type underwear.

stinkingbishop · 11/08/2014 19:57

Watching this!

I think, at least in my case, a lot is to do with age.

DC1 popped out when I was 20 and I left the hospital that day in size 8 jeans and can't honestly remember ever being conscious of a tummy issue.

Twins at 40? Ahem. Sorting out their previous home is on my 'to do list', put it that way, as the 'just ignore it, time is a great healer' approach doesn't seem to have worked thus far...

melissa83 · 11/08/2014 19:58

I have completely flat skinny body after every baby and normal weight is 7 and a half stone.I however walk miles every day, am on my feet in physical jobs 40/50 hours a week, do exercise videos and you tubes, do lots of sporty things with the children.

Im 32 weeks pregnant now with 3rd but still doing 40+ hours of physical work and around 20 miles walking a week.

ChoccaDoobie · 11/08/2014 20:08

DO MUTU!!!! I did it and didn't look back! I also went to their live event in London . It was fab and the support was brilliant.

missorinoco · 11/08/2014 20:49

Just had a look at MUTU. How much time does it take each day?

rach6122 · 12/08/2014 09:07

oh I am also following paleo, which is working amazingly for the weight loss. think I need to go all out on exercise, keep wearing support and perhaps try a topical cream (no harm?) the youngest is only 6 months old so by a year I guess ill know what ive been left with!

OP posts:
trikken · 12/08/2014 10:57

What is MUTU?

trikken · 13/08/2014 17:18

Just looked at MuTu, it seems like gentle exercise and diet to me.

mrsravelstein · 13/08/2014 17:28

i had a flat stomach after dc1 & c section (at 28), skin pinged back.

dc2 and 3, large babies, overdue, c sections which were cut badly and healed badly, and in my late 30s... so although i am now a fit and muscular size 6-8, i still have an overhang of skin on my stomach. i don't think there's anything you can do about it once your skin has been that stretched over and over, cut in sections, and lost its elasticity due to age.

rach6122 · 14/08/2014 11:39

ive been wearing my post birth support garment 24 hours a day (bar shower) since I started this thread and its slightly less saggy. think im going to wear it until all weight lost. in the night I tend to sleep on my side so my belly has the chance to sort of droop/sag to the side, and thei stops that so perhaps there is something to it

I think a lot of it is down to luck tbh. With the best will in the world, you can't 'fix' skin if the elasticity is completely gone.

With both of my pregnancies, I was a size 10, put on minimal weight, but had a huge bump. I used bio oil from about 16 weeks with both bit still got horrendous stretch marks all over my tummy.

I worked hard after my second pregnancy. I had a three inch muscle separation and managed to fix it through exercise. I'm now the fittest and slimmest I've ever been and my tummy is completely flat, muscle wise. Ds2 is 4 and I use a skin firming cream on my tummy still, I've always taken plenty of supplements supposed to be good for skin elasticity and done everything 'right'.

But my skin is still loose and wrinkled on my tummy. I'd never bare it in a bikini. I look great fine in clothes, and am a toned size 10, but at 4 years pp my tummy is as good as I'll ever get it.

rach6122 · 14/08/2014 14:37

see that's my aim, to wear a bikini again. starting to wonder if it will happen!

OP posts:
trikken · 14/08/2014 18:37

I have a bikini now and I never ever thought I'd be able to wear one.

VitoCorleone · 14/08/2014 19:01

After DS1 i left the hospital as a size 6 without a single stretch mark in sight, he was only 6lb 5oz

DS1 was 8lb 8oz and i was the size of a house, after i had him i was left with split abdominal muscles, weighed almost 11 stone (i had been 7 and a half before) and still looked around 6 months pregnant. It really depressed me.

My stomach looked like a huge deflated balloon.

I joined MyFitnessPal and started calorie counting, i also done the 30 day shred and played squash once a week with DP. I also had physio for my stomach muscles.

Within 6-9 months i was in a size 8 weighing 8 stone, my 3 finger gap in the muscles was down to just half a finger gap and my stomach, although still not flat, was looking a hell of a lot better.

But id still likes to tone it up a bit more, i know i can do it, its just getting around to it! I never thought id ever wear a bikini again, but i do and i look fine.

It can be done, but you need to be willing to work hard.

VitoCorleone · 14/08/2014 19:01

*DS2 was 8lb 8oz

Lucked · 15/08/2014 09:38

Well my damaged skin is all on my lower abdomen so in the unlikely event I got both thin and brave enough to wear a bikini I could get a high waisted one. www.asos.com/Seeker/Seekers-Colour-Block-High-Waisted-Bikini-Set/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3472636&istCompanyId=6f061ed0-7427-4b6c-bb90-987c0bd08468&istItemId=wxqxltalx&istBid=t&transaction_id=102ca81eaae0f1f4c4be337534a832&affid=10607

I am in my late thirties so am never going to look like a 20 year old in a bikini.

Issy777 · 11/12/2018 08:35

I know this is an old thread it came up on a google search I did!
Please could any of the posters report back on their progress? Does the saggy belly ever go away?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thank you :)
