AIBU to just say 'sod it'

House is a tip. Toddler currently increasing mess by removing all books from shelves. We were meant to go swimming this morning, but have been scuppered as I can't find my keys, so we're stuck inside til I locate them.

I'm knackard and tempted to just say 'sod it', and just have a lazy day - I can't be bothered to tidy. Or is that really terrible? Sad

Have a lazy day! There will be time for activity tomorrow (or the day after). Have lazy fun.

FunkyBoldRibena · 08/08/2014 11:47

Do you need us to tell you to have a lazy day? Really?

Be an adult and if that's what you want to do then do it.

SauvignonBlanche · 08/08/2014 11:47

Sounds reasonable to me!

Crinkle77 · 08/08/2014 11:47

Have a lazy day

CoffeeTea103 · 08/08/2014 11:48

Why do you need permission?

puntasticusername · 08/08/2014 11:48

We (self, 3.5yo and 7m old) are having a lazy day. Kindly do the same, or you'll show us up Wink

Lally112 · 08/08/2014 11:49

Everyone has a sod it day. Today looks like its gonna be yours. And how nice is it to hear that someone else indeed has a no housework day too (I have 5 or 6 a week) rather than I must scour every inch of the place before noon.

ICanSeeTheSun · 08/08/2014 11:51

This isn't a once in a life time thing, it's swimming the pool will be there for the foreseeable future.

Elfina · 08/08/2014 12:08

Why do I need permission? To assuage my guilt, obviously.

Wow Funky, bit over the top with the response no? It's a lighthearted thread.

An do it OP. Life is too short not to have lazy days.

Andrewofgg · 08/08/2014 12:28

Enjoy the lazy day and end it with Wine.

BadRoly · 08/08/2014 12:30

I'm still in my jarmies playing on the ipad at the kitchen table while also scoffing cake. Dh is itching to get stuff done but the dc are also all still in their jarmies watching tv or playing nicely. I think dh shall be overruled...

Lazy days rock!

DiaDuit · 08/08/2014 12:32

Do you need the keys to drive or just to lock the door? If just to lock the door i'd go swimming anyway. If for driving i'd still try and get out for half an hour running around in the park or woods or whatever is nearby just to escape the mess for a bit.

Or have a lazy day. That's ok too Grin

somewheresomehow · 08/08/2014 13:04

Have a lazy day and go swimming when the rain hits on sunday

squoosh · 08/08/2014 13:08

You must scrub the pavement in front of your house as penance for even considering such laziness.

Elfina · 08/08/2014 13:34

Well DD had an extra bubble bath, which she was pretty pleased about! It's nap time now and am considering a parallel self-indulgent snooze...

Elfina · 08/08/2014 13:34

Oh and door's a Yale lock so will lock automatically when it shuts.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 08/08/2014 13:38

Join the lazy day club. DS1 will be apoplectic later when I tell him he needs to put some clothes on to go and pick DH up from work! DS2 lives in just his pants if we're staying home for the day. Wish I could snooze but I seem to have a hardcore baby who only believes in 5-10 minute power naps. I have done some washing but other than that I am MNing and eating chocolate caramel shortbread!

RhinosAreFatUnicorns · 08/08/2014 13:48

We're on our third film here Grin. No intention of moving anywhere.

Nocturne123 · 08/08/2014 13:48

I shall join you .. Just had a nap with dd and have cbeebies on . Inside fun it is today Wink I'm 36 weeks with dc2 so I'm more often than not using this as an excuse to be lazy .. And eat cake .

slightlyconfused85 · 08/08/2014 13:50

YANBU. Have a lazy day. I wish I could have one with my toddler but she just won't stay in all day. She stands by the door from about 8am shouting 'SHOES' 'OUTSIDE' 'CAR'. I wish I was you!

EElisavetaofBelsornia · 08/08/2014 13:58

There is no point in tidying when small children are around, they just undo it. Have a lazy time and pick up the worst of it after bedtime. Or tomorrow.

NoSquirrels · 08/08/2014 13:59

I have offered/threatened a trip out to do something/anything but they rebelled and so here we all are, still in PJs/naked (the DCs, not me!) at 2pm.

I predict that about 5pm they'll beg to go out, at which point it'll rain.

And I am just ignoring the mess and sitting on the sofa. It's great!

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 08/08/2014 14:02

Still in my PJs... I think you can guess my opinion on lazy days.

ftmsoon · 08/08/2014 15:02

I am sitting under my 13week old DD, I figure her sleep is far more important than tidying or writing thank-you cards.
Enjoy the lazyness! Although my MNing will be ended shortly as my fone battery is nearly dead Sad
