to send a passive agressive letter to neighbours' landlord

Soon after we moved into our property a storm blew down the garden fence. From our research including looking at the deeds, this fence belongs to the neighbours (therefore their landlords responsibility).

We however received a barely literate letter demanding we fix the fence. The next day I was putting dd in the car (not having had a chance to respond to the letter yet) and the landlord threatened me re the fence in front of 3 yo dd.

We held out for a few months, then gave in and put a fence up so we could use our garden. I bought an expensive one, hoping it would last, and avoid any further contact with nasty piece of work landlord.

The neighbours children are now kicking footballs against the fence and have caused significant damage. They have around a dozen children, and won't speak to us as we are not Muslim.

Wibu to send a letter to landlord asking that he asks children to damage fence, or that we are going to pursue him for damage to the fence? We don't expect to ever see any money from him, but maybe the threat would stop further damage.

Twizzle ship you are making a lot of assumptions there,a lot of them incorrect. We did send a letter regarding the fence to the landlord. We received no reply.

We have also tried many times to engage them in conversation. They won't even say hello.

I said they have around a dozen children, as I have not counted.

We get on well with other neighbours on the street dancingbear so I really don't know what you are implying. Unless you have looked at my posting history and are implying they wouldn't like us because we are Jewish.

Thank you book for a constructive reply.

We don't want to ignore this as the fence will shortly fall down again if it continues to be abused and was very expensive and time consuming to put up.

I could try talking to them re football issue but it is so awkward that it really puts me off.

you didn't mention anything about writing the LL a letter or making attempts at conversation with your neighbours in your post........

Twizzle I didn't say I hadn't either. You assumed.

It really would be a very long post if I had to state everything in order to counter what people might assume.

We didn't call the police about the bins as we thought it best to let it go for the sake of peace, and I'm sure the police have better things to do. IMO that was the sensible thing to do.
