Ok, I know I am. I've already posted this in the Charity section but I'm not getting many responses. With this being a high traffic area, I was hoping some (as many as possible!) of you could help me out please?

I work for a small charity and am trying to carry out some market research on military charities and giving behaviours. All I can offer is virtual Cake and Wine but if you could answer this very short survey, I would be very much obliged.

Flowers and thanks

I forgot to say, I am a long term poster who has name changed!

Done. But I don't think it asked important questions. I give to a number of charities but wouldn't give to a military one.

Numanoid · 04/08/2014 15:06

I've filled it in for you. I donate to a lot of military charities, a lot of the time. :)

LittleBlueMouse · 04/08/2014 15:11

Done, and I would never give to a military charity

MilitarySurvey · 04/08/2014 15:12

Thank you both.

It is quite a general survey, I agree, but at the moment I'm just looking for general answers rather than more in depth. There has been no type of strategy in what we do and I'm trying to look at ways we can formulate and improve upon this. I really appreciate your feedback Piper. Is there any particular reason why you wouldn't donate to a military charity?

Numanoid - bless you, that's really great to hear Smile

Well I would give to one for WW2 Vets because they were conscripted, however I feel that (and I realise I will probably get horribly flamed for this) but I feel that when people chose to join the forces it's a job and I don't see that they should get any help, that isn't available to other people.

No problem. Grin I donate a lot to H4H, RAFBF, Erskine and the Poppy Appeal, every year.

For many reasons, it's something I will always support. :)

I have filled it in & described for you why I do not donate to military charities where the wars and the dead do not include conscription of troops and shaming tactics such as the white feather. Military personnel today have full choice of participation, the risks are known and they receive a full salary, its a chosen employment which they are free to take or leave as they wish.

Conscientous objection is not a choice if it involves your family being treated with utter contempt from a pro war society.

We are at war today in countries where we have no right to be following weak and easily led leaders (such as Blair) who have their own agendas for waging war, primarily financial reasons. We do not fight these days to protect our country or our people, we fight for kinship with the States and for profit which I cannot agree with.

MilitarySurvey · 04/08/2014 15:39

Thank you for the feedback.

The Charity I work for mainly concentrates on Veterans from WW2 and the Falklands at present, but as time goes on we will cater to other groups of Veterans from more recent wars, so it is very interesting these opinions and I'm glad you're sharing them with me - thank you.

Done, bump.

mrssmith79 · 04/08/2014 23:34

Done.

RonaldMcDonald · 04/08/2014 23:55

Done but doesn't include Northern Ireland....

storytopper · 05/08/2014 00:00

Done

HeySoulSister · 05/08/2014 00:19

Which charity do you work for?

SockQueen · 05/08/2014 00:29

Done. I give to the RBL Poppy Appeal every year but am less keen on H4H. Not quite sure I can articulate why, but they just seem a bit...commercial to me (I know this is the model which works for them and makes them money, just doesn't feel right for me). Plus last time they were collecting in my Tube station they had a big poster with the tagline "It's about the blokes," which definitely riled me! I know it is mostly men who are being killed and injured in service, but there are women out there too, not to mention the women in support/medical roles and all the wives and girlfriends back home supporting their partners. It's not just about the blokes.

MilitarySurvey · 05/08/2014 11:30

Thank you all very much.

Sorry Ronald, I have edited that now.

Soul, I work for Broughton House. I didn't want to say in previous posts as I wanted to try and get a completely random sample. I really appreciate the feedback so far, it's nice to get people's views and opinions. As I said earlier, there is no real marketing or fundraising strategy here, which is what I'm trying to implement.
