Tried posting on Child health board but I seem to have broken it!
My DD is 21 months old, had a nasty throat infection two weeks ago. Had antibiotics but last monday started a fever and sore mouth. Overnight her mouth, tongue and lips blistered and swelled.
I took her back to GP who said acute fungal infection probably caused or made worse by antibiotics. Prescribed anti fungal.
Dd got worse so took her to hospital, she wasn't drinking at this point and was crying continually. She was given string pain relief and mouth spray, then she drank some water so we were sent home. On Friday still not drinking and dry nappies so I took her to GP who sent her straight to children's ward were we tried to coax her to drink, failed so a feeding tube was inserted. She had milk, antivirals and pain relief through tube all weekend.
This morning doctor saw her playing and advised tube to come out and go home. No further treatment. Since being admitted she has sipped water 3 times, not eaten in a week and is not well. Sweating and crying in pain between medication.
As her mouth is very painful and now cracked bleeding lips it took 3 people to pin her down to get calpol into her.
Should we go home? Open access offered
