if you were really unhappy about something and had the opportunity? fair enough some celebs just get too much done but I dont think people should be criticized if they werent happy with a certain feature and got it changed to feel more comfortable with their appearance, opinions?

I had rhinoplasty a very long time ago. It transformed my life as I was finally able to walk down the street without strangers staring at me. Surgery may not solve every problem in a person's life but it should solve one if the procedure is done properly. I've never felt the need for any further procedures as I don't need them. If I did, I would have them if I could afford it and it wasn't available to me on the NHS.

I know someone who persuaded an NHS plastic surgeon that they needed rhinoplasty. She didn't really as she was perfectly attractive as she was. She had the surgery and was content. Therefore the surgery worked for her. I would never judge someone else for wanting to change their appearance. No-one else knows what it's like to have to live in that skin.

ChangelingToday · 03/08/2014 21:56

If I had the money id have a tummy tuck, lots of extra skin there post baby, I'm very conscious of it in my clothes. I'd also like my boobs back up in the place they're supposed to be!

Sirzy · 03/08/2014 21:59

I had my ears pinned back when I was 10. Best decision I ever made, it had already done massive damage to my self esteem by then would have been awful to live with it longer.

Having lost a lot of weight I would also without doubt have surgery to get rid of the excess skin

AlpacaYourThings · 03/08/2014 22:01

Yes, it's my body. I'll do what I want with it.

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 03/08/2014 22:02

I'll undoubtedly have a blepharoplasty at some point.

All of the women in my family have been cursed with heavy eyelids.

My nan actually got hers done on the NHS as it was affecting her vision.

MistressDeeCee · 03/08/2014 22:04

Yes, I would have it. I hate the corners of my eyes they look a bit droopy these days..I dont want to mess with my eyes which is why Ive not had anything done. If people want cosmetic surgery its their own business I feel

paxtecum · 03/08/2014 22:17

I'm really good at thinking of the worst possible scenerio, so I would worry about being the one that is left paralysed or dead after an op.

AnnieLobeseder · 03/08/2014 22:23

Short of reconstructive surgery after a serious disfigurement. No.

Never.

The increasing pressure on women (and even men) to strive for standards of beauty which are impossible to attain naturally are so, so damaging. To adults, to children, to society.

Just, no.

Dixiechicken · 03/08/2014 22:27

Yes. My breasts never developed properly so if I had a spare amount of money I would have them done.

iggymama · 03/08/2014 22:38

If I had the money I would have a tummy tuck. I have hideous apron of skin which repulses me, have not had sex in thirteen years but would be doing it purely for me not to attract a bloke. It feels like it is not part of me iykwim.

Sadly would need to lose several stone first and it would cost best part of a year's salary so just a dream ATM.

RufusTheReindeer · 03/08/2014 22:40

annie

Think my tummy tuck would count there

Only joking Grin

FraidyCat · 03/08/2014 22:41

I've had three or four protruding moles removed from my face and neck. I would say as a medical intervention removing a mole was (the last time I did it) less complex and uncomfortable than getting a large filling at a dentist. Totally worth it.

ElephantGoesToot · 03/08/2014 22:43

TBH IMHO people with cosmetic surgery have esteem problems.

Hmm

Did. Breast reduction, and it has been wonderful. I am not tempted to do anything else.

I'm considering fillers and botox at the moment, though I am finding it hard to justify the money when I have a child I could spend it on. Plus the worry of it looking wrong

I think I would feel guilty at the risk of a general anathestic for cosmetic reasons when I have a small child, plus the money

If money was no object, if I could be guaranteed it would look good and nothing would go wrong, then yes I would. Given it none of those things actually apply, then I guess I won't be.

lottieandmia · 03/08/2014 22:53

I would and have done.

sunflower49 · 03/08/2014 23:02

Yes, I'm very scared of surgery but there are some things I would like to change if I get brave enough. I know there are risks but if I think something will make me happier and be worth it then I'll do it.

I've had botox once, loved it and will do it again, just made me feel so much happier about my face, and so much more willing to smile!

Gruntfuttock · 03/08/2014 23:18

It's strange, but although I have wanted breast reduction surgery for most of my adult life (I'm 40G), since I turned 60 I am even more worried about possible adverse effects of a general anaesthetic on my brain, than I am about my enormous boobs. So that means that, if I were to suddenly have the money to be able to afford breast reduction surgery, I'd be too scared to have it in case it resulted in dementia coming sooner, rather than later or not at all. Basically, turning 60 has made me fearful of what lies ahead of me, such as bereavement and deterioration physically and mentally of my husband and myself. Much as I detest my enormous boobs, suddenly there are worse things to have to live with. Sad

If I had been able to afford it when I was younger I would definitely have had breast reduction surgery, but only found out recently that they can grow back to their pre-surgery size! Which horrified me tbh.

PiperRose · 03/08/2014 23:23

I've had some, on the NHS, but if I had the funds I'd have more.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 03/08/2014 23:34

I would like the works. In fact, if I could hand in this body and be given a new one so I can look in the mirror and not feel repulsed then I would do so in a heart beat!

Bunbaker · 03/08/2014 23:34

Grunt Have you been been on the bra intervention threads? Are you really 40 inches under your boobs?

trappedinsuburbia · 03/08/2014 23:36

I had a boob job after my first pregnancy left me with flaps of skin, I was prepared for stretch marks (none) and saggy stomach (none) and I was shocked how badly it affected me, I never thought I was like that, but hey ho I was, so I had the means so I got it done, they've wrinkled a little and dropped a bit (further pregnancies) but not so much that it bothers me, I just wanted to feel normal which I do.

MagicMojito · 04/08/2014 00:06

Oh god yes!!!
If I had the funds and lost the needle phobia:
*porcelain veneers
*nose job
*boob lift and re shape
*laser on scar tissue and stretchmarks
*get my feet made smaller and narrower (not even sure if that's a real thing, but I'd like it to be)

MagicMojito · 04/08/2014 00:09

Oh and I'd get the huge blue suitcases under my eyes shifted aswell

Meglet · 04/08/2014 00:19

Not now I have DC's. I wouldn't want them to start thinking there was anything wrong with an essentially healthy body.

But I've always wanted my nose and thighs done. I've learnt to live with them now.

Botox is very appealing though.
