Well, I hope I'm not bu Wink.

I'm starting a degree in September and am clueless how to take advantage of available technology and services to help me research and remember what I've learned. Is Evernote any good, anything else? Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm using an ipad. Tia!

Sorry, I have no advice but I'm waiting a reply to your post with interest.
Ds is going into GCSE year and I don't have a clue how to help him :(

Perhaps we should look at an Education thread? ;)

TBH I think that in terms of studying nothing beats writing out details again on paper, and making flash cards etc - there's something about the act of writing, rather than typing, that means I'm more likely to retain information

Depends what your uni uses, I use loads of apps for my GCSE and A level students but the apps on their own would be of little use to you, it would rely on your tutor uploading stuff to them

That's the method my daughter used and she was valedictorian.

Mendeley is a free version of reference manager. It is a software system which basically catalogues your articles and when you're writing an essay, it does in text citations and creates a reference list according to whichever system your course specifies.

Swipes and Listastic are good for to do lists.

Watching with interest to see what else gets posted.

I use videos on Youtube that use binaural beats, that aid memory & studying

I'm midway through a work diploma (nvq 6 equiv) ans agree that I find the old methods are the best - cue cards, mind maps etc.

When I have a topic I find really hard I record myself reading the notes out loud on an app on my phone, and listen to it over and over when walking to work etc. Repetition helps. Smile

Anki is an app that you use as you would use flash cards but it spaces out the repetition of them to minimise the chances of you forgetting, thus enhancing learning.
