Birthday cards.

What is the point of posting a card on the actual birthday, to get there the day after, containing the hand written message "Have a really good day"?

AIBU to put said card into the recycling immediately?

Sending a late card is no different to turning up late to an appointment.
It's different if something prevented you from being on time, but not when you were just being half assed.

God someone's a bit precious.

Fgs could easily have been delayed in post or friend got dates mixed up slightly. No big deal.

No need to stomp your feet and pout.

cherry Sending a late card is NOTHING like turning up late to an appointment!

You don't inconvenience anyone by sending a late card.

I wouldn't feel put out but I might recycle it straight away. It would feel odd to put it on display when it's not your birthday anymore.

I completely disagree Cherry - being late for an appt means someone is sat there waiting for you, having their time wasted.
If you suddenly remember a friend's birthday a bit late, or can't get out to get to the shop for a card when you thought you would be able to, or someone else has used the last stamp that you'd left in the drawer, etc.,etc., no-one is sitting waiting for that card. I'd FAR rather receive a card a couple of days late, than not get one - wouldn't everyone? It shows they've thought of you, even though, for any one of 101 reasons, they didn't quite get the card to you on time.
