to consider calling a company for their driver's atrocious driving?

Has anyone ever done this? Is it worth it?
I've just been flashed at, bibbed at, tailgated and then I suspect I was sworn at ( but I didn't look up as he gawped out of his window as he undertook me on the dual carriageway)
I honestly didn't do anything more than pull out to overtake, safely and with consideration.
I don't know why it is bothering me but is it actually worth calling the company to tell them about their driver?
( I suspect it's not but wondered if anyone has ever done this and not been laughed at)

J's.

THANKYOU

DH will be pleased. Lidl is his Spiritual Home

I spend far too much time online checking Aldi and Lidl specials. DS pleaded with me for white polo shirts for school this week. I had already got blue ones for September months ago, but given the prices in Aldi I relented.

I'm a big believer in emailing companies about this kind of thing. Their drivers are their representatives on the road. I also email companies when I've experienced very good service too, so I'm not just a moaner!

once reported Eddie stobart Lorry that did u turn on busy 4 way traffic light junction that has ambulances and police cars speeding through all the time as it is near the hospital. It is such a dangerous junction - the only reason he didn't cause a pile up was the other drivers realised in disbelief what he was doing and took evasive action (ie moved into bus lanes etc) I got an email back - they seemed interested and apologised for his driving

MrsDavidBowie · 30/07/2014 17:07

I've reported a white van driver.
The driver had to phone me from the office and apologise.

It was great.

partialderivative · 30/07/2014 17:09

OP, is there any tiny possibility that you may have even been the tiniest bit at fault?

Professional drivers experience a lot of traffic. Some of them are useless.

But then again so are an awful lot of 'casual' drivers.

There is absolutely no excuse for Road Rage, but I do believe some drivers need to acknowledge their own mistakes... Including me!

DH bought a couple, one for mine, one for his. Not sure of exact model but will ask when he gets home.

I think it might be this one....

www.amazon.co.uk/E-PRANCE-Recorder-G-sensor-Megapixel-Detection-DVR/dp/B00FKTQ3NE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1406739391&sr=8-3&keywords=dash+cam

I know it has a mini sd card in and its sighted behind my rear view mirror so I can't even see it on the screen. The only reason I know its there is the happy little tune it plays when I start the car.

SistersOfPercy · 30/07/2014 18:03

Apologies, spoken to DH and its this one...

www.amazon.co.uk/E-PRANCE-Original-Ambarella-Resolution-View%C2%A3%C2%ACSupport/dp/B00F5WP7H4/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406739717&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=eprance+amberella

It looks similar but has better features including GPS apparently.

I used to manage a retail business and we had a delivery van. I received a call from a member of the public complaining about a colleague's driving. I took it seriously, apologised to the woman who rang and had a chat with my colleague. Unfortunately without camera footage you cannot be sure who was in the wrong, or indeed if anyone was in the wrong, but as a responsible employer you have to deal with it I believe.

My colleague knew she had upset another motorist and I had to remind her to always be courteous and ensure she was driving and manoeuvring safely - when the company name is all over the van you cannot afford to upset people, quite apart from being a responsible road user as a driver anyway.

YankNCock · 30/07/2014 18:48

Thanks for the reminder, I've just left a rotten review on google plus for the haulage company whose driver was tailgating a lorry in front of him and nearly caused me to crash as I was trying to join the motorway from the slip road.

AugustaProdworthy · 30/07/2014 18:52

Thanks for your replies. I calmed down and decided not to call because although he was pretty rude it wasn't as bad as the examples some of you have described.
I probably didn't explain very clearly; I was pulling out to the outside lane in front of him but I checked twice and there was loads of room. The outside lane was very busy and going about 60 as everyone was staying in that lane to overtake ( eventually) a very slow lorry up ahead. That's why I had a little gap beside me for him to undertake me. I know it's not best to stick in the outside lane to do this so I accept I wasn't driving ' perfectly'.
It was the aggression that bothered me.
I'm over it.
I appreciated your posts and I'm intrigued by the dash cam......

Reported nhs van of all things last week. Managed to overtake us on a bend on a hill on a tiny little road in dartmoor. So close to crashing into a banger coming the other way, would have done if we hadn't breaked.
