If you, or family or your child needing life saving treatment, food (starving to death) etc, and the only choice was a company you boycott or Israeli produce etc, would you use it or continue to boycott?

abouttobeevicted - brilliant.

Disapproval of Israeli actions and anti-semitism are NOT the same thing; but a lot of boycotters do seem quite happy to use stuff from other regimes which are not democracies and also unleash weapons or judicial vengeance on innocents. Many Israelis can and are protesting against their government. Show me some other middle east countries where you can do that without being shot.

and if you disapprove of 'big pharma' whoever it was, then no drugs for you. Can't have it all ways.

this thread is about how far you take your principles. I know that Jehovah's witnesses have actually died due to refusing blood transfusions. So some people will do it. (and no, I don't think this is intelligent!)

Patrickstarisabadbellend · 28/07/2014 14:11

I won't boycott Israel.

Beeyump · 28/07/2014 14:17

I am definitely not going to boycott Israeli produce Confused

Numanoid · 28/07/2014 14:39

Wow people are being deliberately OTT in this thread. So everything has to be done exactly to the letter? We can't choose to boycott as much as we can? AND we have to boycott everything from every country which exploits people/is engaged in a senseless 'war'? Well, there goes my mistaken belief that I had the right to choose.

Numanoid · 28/07/2014 14:40

P.S. Firearms were invented in China, I hope everyone who thinks murder is wrong doesn't buy Chinese produce. Wink

fledermaus · 28/07/2014 14:41

I don't boycott anything, but DP boycotts Nestle. If it came down to Kitkats or death I think he'd choose Kitkats though.

Good luck with that

Shallishanti · 28/07/2014 15:34

so, everything was either invented in or grows in Israel??
and they invented maths too??
I will content myself with not eating their peppers or avocados, so far have not faced any life threatening situations that would only be resolved by eating peppers or avocados, so a minor inconvenience compared with having my home bombed.

Vicky5910 · 28/07/2014 15:50

I boycott Nestlé and that in itself is quite tricky, they own shares in several other companies (for example, the body shop, just a few % so I have to decide if I boycott the Body Shop too)!
I fun the best part of the boycott is talking about it with people around me. Goes like this: No thanks, I don't eat Nestlé products. Why not? Big breath WELL....
I think that is very effective in getting the message out there. Nestlé have admitted the boycott is noticeable in their profits in some countries :)
(I deliberately didn't bother answering they 'kitkats or debt situation' presented as my literal and logical mind cannot stretch that far fetched...)

If a LO needed life saving treatment and there was no option of course I would stop my boycott. I would sleep with satan for my family.

Bellossom · 29/07/2014 08:49

Why boycott costa coffee?

Bellossom · 29/07/2014 08:50

It's not necessarily only worth boycotting if you boycott 100% is it.
Even 1% less sales is something

RufusTheReindeer · 29/07/2014 11:22

bello

I was being silly, I don't even boycott all Costas...just the one in my village! Blush

Mrsjayy · 29/07/2014 12:01

I am not deliberately being awkward but what is the point in boycotting avacadoes and peppers I dont see what gòod that does it is only hitting the farmer surely

Beeyump · 29/07/2014 12:05

I can't get over 'I'm also considering adding USA products to the boycott'. I mean, really.

JanineStHubbins · 29/07/2014 12:05

One of the points is that it may have come from illegal settlements - Israeli labelling does not distinguish between settlement and non-settlement produce. In that instance, I have no problem with hitting the farmer.
