It looks and smells fine.... Or am I just setting myself up for an upset tummy?

My own fault I should have put it in the effing freezer yesterday.

If it looks and smells fine, it probably is fine. Just make sure you cook it thoroughly.

Flossiechops · 26/07/2014 14:10

No eat it you'll be fine!

ihatethecold · 26/07/2014 14:10

we would in our house, as long as it smells and looks ok i wouldn't think twice

WorraLiberty · 26/07/2014 14:11

I would eat it

Chicken stinks if it's even slightly gone off

FelineLou · 26/07/2014 14:12

I reckon Supermarkets cover their backsides by using a date one off. One day no probs! I grew up before eat by dates and we had no frig( no electric) still alive!

Smilesandpiles · 26/07/2014 14:12

It'll be fine.

Chicken you can rely on as the second it goes off, you will know about it.

StarShank · 26/07/2014 14:16

I didn't know that if it is only a bit off it will smell. Awesome. Thanks people. Fajitas tonight it is.

Enjoy, fajitas, oh fajitas . . .

grocklebox · 26/07/2014 15:50

I don't know why so many people post this question. Use your eyes and your nose, nobody here can tell you if the food in front of you is safe to eat.
And forget about use by dates, use your sense instead.

PeppermintInfusion · 26/07/2014 16:22

It also gets a slight green hue to it if it's off

LastTango · 26/07/2014 18:01

Oh I am SO with you grocklebox - I wonder if common sense has been bred out of people!!

Smilesandpiles · 26/07/2014 18:28

Not so much common sense, but the recession has hit a lot of people hard and still is.

Cooking from scratch is happening now more than it has for a long time and some are more reluctant to throw food away than before.

There is a need to re-educate people on what can and can't be eaten past the dates printed on the packaging. Hence threads like these.
