AIBU to be rather cynical over Mo Farah pulling out of Commonwealth Games

So, Mo has pulled out of Glasgow because he is still suffering after effects of his 'mysterious stomach problems a couple of weeks ago' and wants to ensure that he will be fully prepared/ready for the European Championships in August - or is it because he knows he's not in the form to take on the Africans. Me thinks he never really intended to run atGlasgow but to keep himself back for the Europeans where there is not such a high standard of opposition.
And, yes I do know what the effects of an illness can be on training/competition as I am actively involved in athletics.

Essentially... On a competitive basis for all sports, the Commonwealth games are rubbish. The counties are random. All the athletes of real talent are saving themselves for real competitions.

Not all sports Bathsheba. In some events - Netball is a good example - this is the pinnacle of achievement as it's not an Olympic sport and the competitors view it as such.

I am not sure bring part of the commonwealth is something that everyone would want to celebrate or take part in something that does celebrate the commonwealth it's rather odd we still have these games

Saying that I have enjoyed what I have watched

FreudiansSlipper · 26/07/2014 13:03

being part ....

not bring

NigellasDealer · 26/07/2014 13:03

this news simply confirms my belief that Mo Farah is being held at gunpoint in a basement somewhere being forced to make Quorn ads, reading them from a script.

OP, you used the expression "Me thinks" and YABU for that alone...

This posting was meant to cause interest.

Some might call that "stirring".
