When talking to a colleague a few minutes ago, I used the term 'belt and braces'. I need to shoot myself now, don't I?

I think we really need to take it to the next level here and think about being proactive, not reactive, so that we can achieve some real step change in our thought process. Any ideas on how we can move the goalposts and get more people on MN to show us what they can bring to the table? Suggest the target of 100 previously unmentioned "management" terms as a ballpark figure

wowfudge · 25/07/2014 18:12

x2boys - yes, the course is called Special Overly-complicated Discourse for Over-promoted Fine Fellows, or I prefer the acronym: S.O.D. O.F.F.

We need a more granula approach to get into the nuts and bolts of the situation....

We need real root cause solutions rather than reactive thinking....

Were flipping the paradigm on this and looking for a more visionary solution....

lampygirl · 25/07/2014 19:33

But not before we've taken an action to shift some paradigms and run them up the flagpole to see who salutes them, before clearing the balls off the runway and landing this thing

Sneezecakesmum1 · 25/07/2014 19:36

Once stood around in a circle tossing a beanbag at other members of staff as part of a team building exercise.

Everyone joining in with gusto while us nurses just looked wtf at each other Grin

We thought outside the box and all went and sat down.

Lots of management speke there too.

StealthPolarBear · 25/07/2014 19:40

You should touch base and arrange some face-time so that you can keep him in the loop going forward...

BitchPeas · 25/07/2014 19:48

I think we need to use the SBI feedback model to get to grips with why the wheels come off of this project, we need to harness the energy in the room and force it through with renewed vigor.....let's have an ideas shower!

MimiSunshine · 25/07/2014 21:33

Thumbwitch I genuinely know a manager that uses those phrases.

I think it loosely translates as: 2nd guess yourself, find a bullsh1t bingo way of saying what you originally wanted to say (so you think you sound important and clever) and then make a decision by committee so that if you're wrong you can hide behind everyone else

abouttobeevicted · 25/07/2014 21:48

For x2boys this site is where they all go to refine their management speak and continue to evolve their upward trajectories...
