...to try to book a naice summer beach holiday in Europe at this late notice?

Hello there

My other half is determined to find us a sunny summer beach holiday somewhere in Europe this summer and am looking for some help please.

It's not normally our thing - we usually might do chambre d'hôte in SW France or hire a villa with friends - but we know enough I think, so we can probably safely manage to avoid Magaluff. Ha!

Children are 12/9/7 and will like a resort and hotel with pool type of set up but it would be nice to have a bit of added value in terms of extra pleasantness within reach.

Friends recently went to Turkey (Cirali) and had self catering chalet type things which sounded nice (naice!) and there were lovely ruins nearby and they swam with turtles etc.

That sounds terrific but is super pricey booking for late August.

So any other thoughts/ideas/suggestions please?

I'd love to snorkel with turtles of go to a secret cove on a boat and dive into turquoise waters if poss.

Anything else wonderful would be a bonus.

So any thoughts? We'd be really grateful. Budget? About £2k ish for a week for the five of us, I reckon.

Ok, I'll leave it with you but many thanks in advance.

Yes, for really urgent things like booking a summer holiday! I'll be sure to remember that next year when I fancy someone else doing the work for me

V good idea Minttyy but your post may get lost amongst all the other terribly important and urgent things people post about like, broken finger nails, un dusted skirting boards, instant coffee v perculated and so on.

nerfherder have just looked at two small companies I've used in the past for Devon and the Isle of Wight respectively - Toad Hall Cottages and Blue Chip Holidays. Both have availability in quite a few really nice- looking places for the week beginning 02/08.

I just got a three/four star rated all inclusive to Marbella via gem holidays for £291 pp. booked flights through easyjet friend £35 each return- but there were normal flights for £55 rtn. Transfers were £48 return.

Beware Holiday Gems. They have form for 'selling' you a holiday and then ring a few hours later to tell you the price has mysteriously gone up. There have been threads on here about them. I appreciate your experience might be good Shonajay, but it's just worth bearing in mind that the advertised prices are not necessarily what you will actually pay.
