To think that my local swimming pool is outrageously expensive

I went swimming with one child this morning. This is a local council run pool. I didn't want to leave a lot of money in the locker so just took £5 and a £1 coin for the locker. I asked for an adult and child swim and the man said £5.80! Luckily I always keep a couple of pound coins in the car for parking and supermarket trolleys etc so I went and got another one for the locker.
That seems extortionate to me. My local private gym charges £30 per month for unlimited use and has a full fitness suite with gym, sauna, pool etc.
Am I just out of touch with prices of leisure facilities or is this very expensive? It seems expensive to me because the town I used to live in charges £5 for a family swim of two adults and two children but I am prepared to accept that this might not be the norm.

Our local pool is £4.30 for an adult swim, under 16 and over 60's are free if they have registered for a card.

It was so packed today that they had a queue waiting to go in the pool. It worked well until there was a shift change at the desk (after we had been waiting 20 minutes) and they started letting people in who had just arrived.

I wish it was cheaper, but I am glad that the council turned the old 1950's lido into a council pool after it had been shut for years.

3.60 for adults 2.00 for children aged 3-15 and £1 for under 3's at my nearest pool no free swimming for any age here. Bus fare to my local pool isn't much cheaper than it would be to Manchester aquatic centre so I may visit there instead.

My nearest is £13 for our family, with £1.50 parking (though we usually park a long walk away to avoid that). We usually travel to one quite a bit further away as it has a brilliant baby pool with slides etc (our nearest doesn't have a baby pool) and it costs £7 for a family ticket with free parking.

Our local pool costs me £5.80 for me and 6yo DD. it is a charitable trust and they need every penny they can get.

YABU. Its not too expensive. Plus our local swimming pool is actually two pools (children and adult) plus a massive water slide. Really cannot complain, must be not cheap to run it.
