To think that men should sit down to pee on trains?

Because I am rather tired of paddling in piss. I'm not talking about a few drops either, I'm talking about large puddles that spread and cannot be avoided. And I was wearing sandals. :sob:

Men, many of you can't aim well at the best of times, what makes you think that you can aim well going at speed on a rickety train?

yes yabu

OddBoots · 24/07/2014 13:36

yanbu but I don't know how that one would be policed.

kittykarate · 24/07/2014 13:36

I have the same thoughts about aeroplane bathrooms.

TurboWithAKick · 24/07/2014 13:37

It might have been a small child?

Yabu singling out 'men'

NorwaySpruce · 24/07/2014 13:39

Well, I wouldn't pin it all on the men/boys.

The ladies loo at work is a disgrace. Apparently, many of them perch.

I have no clue at all how this works/goes wrong, but I am always aware of the yellowy puddle at my feet. And I wear trousers to work, which trail...

Utterly, utterly grim.

tiggerkid · 24/07/2014 13:41

If it was up to me, men, who are incapable of lifting the toilet seat and aiming, should sit down to pee everywhere, not just on trains.

However, please let me mention one disgusting fact: there are a lot of foreign nationals in this country, who insist on climbing the toilet and then crouching there to pee. And this applies to women more than men. My husband's office (a large national bank, FTSE 100 company) had posters displayed in their offices to ask people to refrain from crouching on toilets to relieve themselves. This started when global consulting companies they engage for various work started bringing resources from various countries, not all of which are developed! According to my husband's female colleagues, this issue existed in female toilets even more than the male ones and they also had the same posters on the doors there.

It may well be that men are at fault in what you are describing but it's also entirely possible that this is not always the case!

Still, like I said earlier, if they can't aim or lift the seat, men should just sit down full stop.

I shall amend it then to everyone stop pissing on the bloody floor and/or seat. Or clean up after yourself, you dirty git.

Early train, so clean at set off, and only small child was mine. I still supervise small child, who is actually rather clean.

YANBU. Train-nappies for all, I say.

Vivacia · 24/07/2014 13:57

YANBU. Everyone should sit on the train toilet seat and maintain their aim.

ThatBloodyWoman · 24/07/2014 13:57

I don't sit for the performance on public loos, but I have excellent aim.

I think I would have to seriously consider wetting myself rather than use a train loo.

Vivacia · 24/07/2014 13:58

One other thought, why is sitting more "developed" that squatting? A squat toilet is more natural and a healthier position.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/07/2014 14:03

Crouching is a far more natural position and if we all did it there would be a lot less problems with constipation, prolapses, all sorts of conditions. Whatever position you relieve yourself in there is no excuse for leaving a mess however.

BerniceBroadside · 24/07/2014 14:08

I have used a squat loo on a train (abroad). It was disgusting. It might be healthier, but it's far messier when in motion.

I used to live in a pub and the female loos where 100 times worse than the males :-(

LurcioAgain · 24/07/2014 14:13

Re. trailing trousers - when I did a stint working abroad with squat toilets in the offices where I worked, I found the trick was to roll my trousers up before attempting to crouch, then kind of clench the fabric round the back of my knees. Wasn't pleasant - I was half way through pregnancy at the time, and the smell plus slight, lingering morning sickness...

Re. health - I thought sitting was okay 'cos you could relax enough to empty your bladder properly, and a full squat was okay - it's that funny perching position in between that causes problems.

VSeth · 24/07/2014 14:59

Omg yanbu!!

tiggerkid · 24/07/2014 15:00

One other thought, why is sitting more "developed" that squatting? - I think the association with lack of development exists because squatting (while may well be more healthy and more natural) usually leaves a lot of mess in the toilets and not everyone used to this practice is quite so keen to clean up after themselves. Also, most so called developed countries today don't tend to follow the practice. For me personally, anyone who leaves a mess in the toilet and doesn't clean up is lacking in development and civilisation irrespective of the country they come from. I was just making a point that it's not necessarily men that are responsible for the mess in the toilets but also women as some squat. Sadly, many people, who squat in toilets, just happen to come from less "developed" countries, so although I would say that, perhaps, the term is unfortunate, these people don't do themselves or their countries any favours by leaving mess behind. Squatting or sitting would be fine with me, so long as the person leaves the toilet clean for the next person. In fact, I think I couldn't care less if someone wants to stand on their head to pee if the toilet they leave behind is spotless afterwards.

I will never understand why everyone likes a clean toilet but some just can't get it into their heads that everyone else likes the same too.

AskBasil · 24/07/2014 15:33

I don't care if people sit, stand or squat as long as they clean up after themselves.

That should be a basic but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be.

bungmean · 25/07/2014 23:30

Those train toilets are almost impossible to pee into without spillage.

That's why I pee in the sink instead. Smile

MsVestibule · 25/07/2014 23:40

YABU to just limit it to train toilets. Men should ALWAYS sit down to wee! Just because they can do something (badly) doesn't mean they should do it. Even men with careful aim will emit a fine spray. That doesn't all end up in the loo - more the walls and floor .

You can tell I've given this far too much thought, can't you?

GodDamnBatman · 25/07/2014 23:48

WTF!! Confused

The sink?!?
