AIBU?

To rip things out of magazines? DH thinks so.... (Lighthearted!!)

In the city where I live there is a monthly local magazine produced for the public to peruse which is widely available in businesses, pubs, restaurants, cafés, hairdressers, GP surgeries etc etc. I suspect these businesses have to pay some sort of subscription, but the magazine clearly makes money from local advertisements in its pages as well. It basically covers things like local pub/restaurant reviews, places to shop, local property, recipes, local days out, what's on at the theatre etc etc.

Where I used to work we always had several copies floating around the staff room and I used to rip out (mainly) recipes when the magazines were on their way to the recycling bin.

Well now I don't work there but still enjoy browsing the mag when in pubs/cafés etc.....and I still like to rip out the odd recipe etc Blush

My DH thinks I am being cheeky for doing this and now tuts and rolls his eyes whenever I rip things out like the entitled brazen hussy the stealthy ninja that I am.
although he will quite happily eat the products of my 'theft'!

I know I am not the only person to do this as I often see pages/sections missing and there are always several copies of the mag available at any one time.

So AIBU to do this? Anyone else out there a stealthy-ripper?? Or do you judge (with pearls-clutched!) anyone who does this??

(Ps, not to unduly influence you, but if you side with my DH he will be vilified and I will never hear the end of it!!) Grin

Lol kind of reminds me of this time my dad said that people who don't put their trolleys away when they've finished shopping "should be shot" Grin

What an outrageous attitude!!! There are people who are employed to go round collecting the trolleys don't you know?! What am I supposed to do their bloody job for them or something??! I don't even push my trolley around the supermarket, the hired help do that for me!

I didn't know this was a thing. People still use paper recipes? I just assumed ripped magazines were from children who like to grab and rip things. But it doesn't bug me any. If it was really important to read a perfect, intact magazine, I would just buy one to take home.

That said, have you tried: All Recipes? They have some really good dishes. No page tearing needed. Wink

Yup! I am old skool.... See ^^ second post about my 'brick' phone with no camera and.....NO INTERNET Shock (can you imagine it??!?!?). Wouldn't even have an ipad if DH hadn't insisted on buying it for me for Xmas (bless him).

....Would have preferred a pony though Wink

Ps, thanks for the link, I shall take a peek!

You mightn't have an iPhone or android with a camera but there is no reason why you can't use a note book and pen to jot tips, hints and recipes down.

Point taken and well received. Smile

I have now hired myself a Sherpa to carry all manner of writing and picture-taking paraphernalia (pens, pencils, watercolours, easels, books, canvases, slr cameras [with optional lenses] tripods etc etc) with me wherever I go.

I shall never again commit the ultimate social faux-pas of being a stealthy-ripper! Wink Grin

Good! Take a picture but don't rip the magazines. Same rule applies to the people who fill in the crosswords and sudokos in our staff room newspaper instead of photocopying the page. It pisses everyone else off who might have liked to do the crossword themselves (or seen the article you have torn out)!

I'm not clever enough to do crosswords (why do they make the clues quite so cryptic?!) or sudoko so definitely can't be blamed for that offence!!! Wink

Oh, never bother with cryptics. Haven't got a clue how to do them. Do hate finding a filled in sudoku though!
