So today we went to Farnborough Airshow. Previously (6 years ago) it was busy but Ok you could still get near the barriers, toilets were available and you could see attractions with a short queue.
This weekend there was no where to sit. Literally bit of ground was covered with families and picnics. We had a spot but other people actually covered our blanket with their rug we were so rammed. Water and toilet queues both massive.
Pay a bit more though (£85) and you get the same experience I had 6 years ago. A separate enclosure, still sitting on the grass but with a view and toilets.
We did a few festivals last year and the difference between glam ping and not was totally outrageous. Horrid loo' s, miles from everything etc etc.
I don't mind people paying more for a better time, say a bar or two or easy parking etc. But I do think that the price of a basic ticket should enable you to a actually enjoy the experience.
Now it appears that unless you upgrade you are worse off than before. There seem to be less toilets , less shuttle buses, less field than a couple of years ago.
Just my imagination?

Sorry for the appalling grammar. Cannot write after day in hot sun.

Yanbu. I don't have experience of your particular example, but I know when you book theme parks you're encouraged to upgrade, buy queue jump tickets etc, when I went to a show with dc recently there was a lot of pressure to buy a 'premium' ticket, goodie bag etc. Seems they hook you in with basic prices, then try to get you to upgrade.

We were at farnborough today and TBH had a great time. Managed to find spots to sit in several places - we like to wander - and there were no queues at 2 of the toilets. The ones near the a380 were busy but the other ones were fine. Small queues for food and water. We left just before the penultimate aircraft and waited just a few minutes for a bus.

So in this particular case, YABU ;-)

However, you do get the feeling at some events though that the basic price is just a token effort and to have any sort of positive experience you need to pay supplements.

Yanbu. Really annoys me that cinemas have those stupid premium seats in the best spots so that even when a cinema is practically empty you can't (officially) sit in them and have to do the sneaky seat change once lights go down (or is that just me?)
