How can she be so happy and positive ALL THE TIME?

Especially when stuck at home with the world's most irritating twins?

I've banned t&t in this house after had a dream where they moved next door to usShock. Joy kept trying to get our children all to be friends together but was horrified by my horrible wild offspring and my children declared their children weird.

I woke up in a panic and have looked at our annoying studenty neighbours in a new light ever since.

Cannot fucking stand T&T - esp the extremely patronising "memory game " at the end - but dd loves it.

The only time I've seen Joy tell them off was when they made a nest of socks for an egg. She looked really cross. If my dd had done that I'd be amused, but not annoyed.

Perhaps she'd missed her meds that day Grin

flappityfanjos · 19/07/2014 20:56

I have actually been asked by DD to "be more like Topsy's mum". Fucking CBeebies showing me up. Angry

weyayechickenpie · 19/07/2014 21:13

I hate seeing it always makes me feel like a scruffy cow because my house isnt immaculate. I dont invite the neighbours round they sometimes get a grunt out of me. Oh and I never give them a helmet and send them to builder up the road which dd would love.

OhMyActualDays · 19/07/2014 21:18

My DD calls the friend Juicy which amuses me. We watch it every day, it is her very best favourite. I just think the mum and dad don't match!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 19/07/2014 23:36

Glazed weirdness off the mum!

She doesn't seem to have a connection with tipsy & tom (or whatever they're called!), she would smile and sound chirpy in exactly the same way even if she was running after them with a hatchet. Scary horror film mum...

Sleepyfergus · 19/07/2014 23:44

Can't look at Joy in the same way now that's she's been ruined by Ginge Max. Yuck.

And y y to the repeated 'Topsy and Tim' every2 bloody seconds. Nobody does that in real life. We are not thick. We know who they are.

Mr Fen looks dodgy to me.

But, that goodness for June Whitfield as Mrs Higgily Piggily , the lost vast owner. Love JW.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 20/07/2014 14:35

I couldn't get over the one where the father brought some random, old bloke back with him & then they all wanted him (old bloke) to join them on holiday too!

They were staying in a tent, with shadow puppets, so it would have been a bit of a squash...

lozster · 20/07/2014 15:17

I was only half watching but I think the old guy was their former neighbour who used to pop round so not random :-)

LOL at the similar house lay out. I hadn't realised but I can see it now!! If you go on Facebook you can watch a behind the scenes film. They filmed about 60 episodes over about 9 months I think so I guess the set of house two IS an expanded version of house one. Apparently the exteriors are on Sunbury of which I have no knowledge.

thisvelvetglove · 20/07/2014 16:18

Tony Welch is in the books, crying at the dentist as mentioned because he ate too many sweets.

He's also in the new baby one when his little brother arrives.

Each book has a game at the back, hence the of but at the end of each episode.

DS1 loves the books and the cbeebies show.

They are actually good books for when kids are scared of doctors/hair cut/new baby/dentist/school/flying on a plane. There seems to be a book for all eventualities...

footflapper · 20/07/2014 16:26

My 4yo ds once said to me he wanted nits like T & T :-)

ICanSeeTheSun · 20/07/2014 16:38

We never see her after the twins have gone to bed, I bet she has a few glasses of wine

I can't help thinking there is something slightly odd about these 'meetings' Joy keeps going off to. What can they be? AA? And the new neighbours, The Fenns, are most definitely weird. When they knocked on the door to welcome the Odells (is this the surname from the book? Very unusual, wouldn't you just go for Jones or Smith?) the way Mrs Fenn said 'we've never had twins living in West-whatever-the-fudging-road-is-called before' sent shivers up my spine. In the episode when Mr Fenn is doing his drive, why does Joy have to provide tea and biscuits for everyone. Mrs Fenn was in, we saw her!
And Mrs Higgly-Piggly. Really?
God, I have far too much to say about T&T (or tits and teeth as we call it in this house). I clearly need to get a life!

I was suspicious of the monoblock drive episode. Joy deffo had a wide-on for the builders.

Mr Fenn is a creep, I don't trust him...

MiscellaneousAssortment · 21/07/2014 01:16

I bullied ds into watching the moving house episode, as he had no interest at all. I bugged him until he said 'oh mummy, you can watch it' with a deep sigh...

I got very irritated when the dad says 'I want to say thank you to all three of you for today'... Like the mum was about as much help and on the same level as Topsy and Tim. Grrrr. That did not sit well.

ChasedByBees · 21/07/2014 07:22

Yes, the end of nursery episode. The nursery photographer just happened to be roud their house and then suggested TO TOPSY AND TIM(!) that all the children should be invited round to their house for the day.

Joy thought this was a great idea (!!) and everyone came round. I was muttering to myself, 'what about CRB checks?'

Also

JimmyCorkhill · 21/07/2014 09:33

I actually counted the children who came round to check that pre school ratios were being adhered to they were Blush

flappityfanjos · 21/07/2014 09:42

The first one I ever saw, the one where the roof leaks into T&T's bedroom, filled me with rage. Roof leaks, Mum calls Dad. Dad rushes home from work, observes that the roof is indeed leaking, calls someone with a ladder. Is Mum incapable of calling friend with ladder? Are leaking roofs a man thing? Argh.

JimmyCorkhill · 21/07/2014 17:02

Well don't watch the one where Topsy and her female friend make cakes whilst the boys do something manly instead!

I don't think I have ever got so much enjoyment from a children's show. DD adores it and I get to mutter under my breath ripping it apart. Fun times for all Grin

Pingurules · 08/04/2015 19:16

I love the cheap sets seen inside their house, all the early 1980s style furniture and tables with the paint flaking off along with the headless ornaments. Is this show set in the miners strike era of the 1980s or something? Looking at Brian's hair it probably is. Who cut that? The council? Anyhow it's a sad fact that the kids acting is better than that thing who plays the mother, she's like a plank of wood.
