chair rage at the leavers concert...

Frogisatwat · 18/07/2014 17:21

I arrived at my sons leavers assembly. On time. No chairs available so I thought ok so we stand... fine. The teachers then brought out a lot more chairs and put them in front of the existing front row. So I could now have a seat.
Cue all the people who were now in the second row diving forward. I managed to get two chairs before they were all taken completely by the moving second row and a mother looked at me and shouted 'but I got here early so I could film it!!!' and tried to pinch my chairs. So I told her tough shit and it was my chair. Except I didn't say tough shit. I was slightly more eloquent.
Was I unreasonable? If it were me I wouldn't have dreamt of moving forward when the standees had been given seats.

Omg what bizarre behaviour. I have never yet managed to get to the front row of any of dd school performances I just assume I am not going to hear or see anything but I just want to be there for dd. if the school added extra chairs I wouldn't get all worked up about it as it really is Ustinov another school play. Tbh I really don't understand why everyone gets uptight about year 6 leavers.

TheBogQueen · 19/07/2014 17:54

This is brilliant! Teachers revenge Grin

DP and I argue about who has to go Blush

NewtRipley · 19/07/2014 18:12

Muskey

Love your predictive text. Ustinov Grin

Muskey · 19/07/2014 18:16

Not sure what happened there perhaps peter Ustinov would have found the whole chair thing really amusing

NewtRipley · 19/07/2014 18:20

I think Ustinov, at the leavers' assembly would be great. As long as he used a microphone so we could hear the blardy thing, and there was raked seating, and no toddlers.

TheBogQueen · 19/07/2014 18:26

They should have made the parents fight it out for the front row

Pagwatch · 19/07/2014 18:30

Like Lord of the Flies played out to something unidentifiable on the recorder.

TheBogQueen · 19/07/2014 18:33

It should be like The Hunger Games

NoodleOodle · 19/07/2014 20:22

I think YWBU

Frogisatwat · 19/07/2014 23:20

Any indignation or intimidation I may have felt has fucked off at 'Ustinov' I haven't laughed this much in a long time.

Is it just me or does anybody else think that people who film stuff on their ipads are twats?

Not sure why it annoys me, but it just does.

BreconBeBuggered · 20/07/2014 00:49

Any audience member filming stuff at school events is a twat. Surely complaining about the quality of the DVD you've been forced to pay for is part of the experience?

ElephantsNeverForgive · 20/07/2014 01:02

Or primary didn't sell videos, so people filming their own, politly standing at the back was quite normal.

DH would take a few pictures, no point in video, DDs GPs aren't that doting.

Never attempted to get them to watch professional ballet show videos, it's not their thing.

But filming, taking loads of photos in the main seating and obscuring peoples already (no proper stage) shit view, is not on.

Ceadagam · 20/07/2014 01:03

I've never had this problem in my dcs school, all of us parents fight over the back row:-p

Muskey · 20/07/2014 10:58

Frogisatwat (love the name btw) glad Peter Ustinov and predictive texting was of some use.

I really found the whole hunger games analogy hilarious and The Lord of the flies with a bad recorder soundtrack as classic mumsnet
