Sorry posting here for traffic, having just had lip from an "adviser" that the system is very clear, anyone can understand what the hell they are on about and that he has only worked there a week and he can understand!
Couple of questions of questions
1/ The renewal pack shows my calculation based on my DHs actual income. No mention of mine. I am self employed, so not sure what they are basing the calculation on as its not on the form. ie, is it my ACTUAL for last year or an estimate. I cant give them my ACTUAL for 13/14 till I submit my tax in jan15.
2/ As i am not sure what figure they are using, I an not sure whether the estimate i need to give them now should be lower or higher. I suspect my income will be lower than they are using, but not sure as it doesnt say on the form. Dont want to estimate too low and need to pay ythem back. But if I estimate high and then my actual is lower, will I get the difference repaid (is there not something about they discount £2000 drop in earnings)?
3/ DH works 40 hours. I was doing 25ish. If my hours drop below 16 or indeed go to zero, does that affect how they calculate it or is it simply based on household income as long as somnebody is doing over 16 hours?
The drop in hours would only apply for part of the 13/14 year!
4/ my change in hours would only apply to the 14/15 tax year, so is that relevant to now, as they work on the previous years income. Do they therefore also base it on the previous years working hours.
It seems they hammer you when you get it wrong but get really bolshy when you try to ask them questions to get info in order to get it right.
