To expect teapots in a cafe?

I was out shopping on Saturday and I fancied a cup of tea so I called into a cafe in one of the big department stores. I ordered a tea and a scone, expecting my tea to come in a teapot with a cup to pour it in. Imagine my surprise when the girl started making my tea and she put it in a cup. I said "excuse me do you have any teapots?" and she told me "no, sorry we only cups of tea".

I expressed my dismay at this and told the other lady on the till that I prefer tea in a teapot and they should really start doing tea in a teapot. I would have went somewhere else only I needed a tea and I told them this. I don't think they took me seriously which is a shame that they don't listen to customers.

AIBU to thing cafes should provide pots for tea? Most places do, don't they? At least most places I have been.

Customer opinions... You mean your opinion. Not quite the same.

MrsBellTeapot · 15/07/2014 18:37

But the lady said that other people had asked about teapots. I can't be the only one who likes teapots.

And i am a customer. Why wouldn't my opinion count?

My opinion is that One Direction are talentless over-hyped brats. Should I nip down to Tescos and tell the Manager? I'm sure he'll remove all their CDs immediately.

I was in Starbucks the other day and they gave me a drink-in coffee in a paper cup. I refused it and asked for China. They didn't have any so I demanded a refund. She looked a little surprised...

Usually in Starbucks they tell you when you order that they don´t have any china cups and ask whether a paper one is OK. Most of the time I am cheeky at that point and accept the paper cup in return for a free size upgrade which is always given by them then regretted by me as I end up either wetting myself or getting a 24 hour caffeine high from the extra few millilitres. You were not being unreasonable to request a refund if they had not told you about the paper cup in advance.

that's not the same thing at all.

I would want in a teapot also. I have in a teapot at home so would expect same standard or better when out

vestandknickers · 15/07/2014 18:43

Are you saying my opinion doesn't count?

I'm a customer? I have views.

How rude!

I'm thinking mrsbell might be my best mate ;-)

Since when did Starbucks start serving drinks in china cups??? I've been out of the country too long!

Oh well if you're in the north I expect every customer complains about lack of teapots. They are probably fed up with it.
