To complain about not getting lunch break at new job?

Started new job today (retail very busy). Worked from 9am-5.30pm. Should have had two breaks, one for 15mins in morning then another for 30mins at lunchtime. I had 15min break at 1.45pm and didn't get the other break at all. Obviously I don't want to rock the boat on my first day, but on the other hand I'm not working for nothing. Am in again tomorrow and planning on asking to go on my break if no-one sends me.
Any advice please? All I had was a banana and a coffee all day

NannyOgg You are right - and luncheon vouchers. What happened to them?

Mabelface · 15/07/2014 09:55

Just say "may I go on my lunch please? "

Thanks for replies, I'm not going to complain, but I will ask to go when the lunchtime rush is over and it seems a good time Smile

We only have 30 min break on my retail job. 30 mins for each 8.5hr shift. We signed a waiver years back (new employees sign ot too) as there just isnt time for an hour. Id rather be paid the extra 30 mjns.
You do have to be assertive though. I often do t get lunch until 4ish on a Saturday (finish at 530) because I get on with serving rather than hassling the managers. But I get to play the martyr each week to them so its great lol.

I'm in catering now, and was when I left school too. In both establishments we had 30 minutes break at 11.00am before the lunch session.

Go and ask. Manager/supervisor might just have forgotten
