To think that giving lemon to a baby is not funny

Just that really - I don't understand why people think its funny. Perhaps its the hormones, but the poor little blighters trust us completely. A few people have tried to encourage me to give my 10 month old lemons to taste, AIBU to think this is a bit cruel?

I let DS sip some fizzy drink from the soda stream the other day. One of the funniest things I have seen.

As I said earlier, yes DS is a PFB so it probably is just the hormones. I am totally all for trying new tastes and DS mostly eats what we eat he's not fussy at all AND eats plenty of savoury foods (not just sweet things OP).

Its just that really most people find straight lemon quite unpleasant and I really am talking about peeps that want to give a child food to try something that will cause a reaction. I do put lemon juice in cooked food i.e. chicken dishes, I've put paprika in, some 'curry' herbs like cumin & tumeric. I'm working up to chilli - not sure he's ready for that yet :) And defnintely agree a lot of food likes/dislikes are culturally learnt.

Perhaps cruel is too strong a word, maybe just a bit mean...

My 9 month old has tried lemon and eats curry. I don't like lemons so admit I thought it was odd that my older Dd loved then as a baby but she still likes them now age 8.

doesn’t mean I have to find it entertaining if she disliked it.

Certainly you don't have to. But why would it be terrible if you did?
