It's my birthday.

Dd2 (has AS) always wants to do breakfast in bed for birthdays (we do it for dh too).

Today is no exception. Dh is organising, which means chaos.

I told him last night he had to get a move on this morning as dd2 and I need to leave the house by 9.30.

I am still waiting in bed - strict instructions not to move - and this is just not fun. I am hungry, would like a shower before I have to face the world, and don't particularly want to bolt my breakfast, too open presents like a 2 year old and rush out of the house late.

I can't just get up as the dc (2 with additional needs, 1 very small) will be gutted they couldn't do their usual 'surprise'.

But its hardly a great start to the day....

I feel your pain.

StrawberryMouse · 13/07/2014 09:08

Can you "go to the toilet" or something and sneakily shower and put clean underwear on and get back into bed by the time they have made it?

Shockers · 13/07/2014 09:09

Have a shower while you wait for your inedible, cold toast and stewed tea

Happy birthday Smile.

Flossiechops · 13/07/2014 09:09

Happy Birthday ??????

gamerchick · 13/07/2014 09:09

Yeah I can see where you're coming from but I think you're just going to have to suck it up and try and enjoy the moment Grin

Go and jump in the shower quick before they bring your breakfast up and happy birthday.

Speaking from experience... yours might be mini masterchefs.

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 09:11

I've been wondering that since about 8am, Strawberry! I stayed put thinking I would be discovered mid actions, so am bursting for a wee, and of course would have had bags of time to do so by now so am cross with myself that I didn't! Can't do it now, as surely they it's have burnt a bit of toast by now?!

Happy Birthday Flowers

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 09:13

Thank you for birthday wishes, btw Smile

They've gone in to get ds up now - he's 2, and will not be happy to not go straight down for breakfast... I have no idea what dh is thinking.

20 minutes until I need I leave te house.

Happy birthday !

If you really have to be out for 9.30 how eill that even work? I can't imagine getting everyone out of the house in half an hour if I'm still in bed. Confused

Forgo the shower until you are back to save time, slurp the tea and open the cards. If the Dcs let you save the presents for later .

Have a lovely day

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 09:18

It works because hopefully in between the chaos dd2 has got dressed and had her own breakfast.

I will shove down my toast (when it arrives!) bung on some clothes and run. No hole of saving presents so will have to rip them open too.

Won't be back until after 1pm, have visitors from 2, so little chance of a shower then either. Dh knows all this.

They have 2 more minutes an then I'm getting up.

HappyAgainOneDay · 13/07/2014 09:24

Why have you to leave the house at so precise a time, please?

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 09:25

Because dd2 has auditions for a summer workshop thing she is doing.

Happy birthday, OP!
What happened next?

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 11:07

I cracked Grin

I got up, and arrived downstairs (30 minute dressing special Wink) to a chorus of disappointment that I had got up.

I shoved toast in my face, and hastily unwrapped presents while ds clamoured for cake Grin

We left 5 minutes late (yes, that's 15 minutes to get up, dressed, have breakfast and open presents and pack a bag for dd2 with snacks and drink) and just squeaked into auditions in time to snatch the last parking space (clearly someone watching out for us today, as no other parking for miles around)

Dd2 has gone in happily after a quick panic over hair bands (dh hadn't tied her hair back - she's got 3 hours of singing and dancing this morning Confused - but luckily the good old change bag standby had some bands in) an I finally get some peace (apart from the 30 or so teenagers nattering away and 'warming up' (ie desperately trying to one-up each other and put each other off before auditions Grin) but they're nt my dc so it still counts as peace!

why didn't you just get dh to tske her?

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 11:17

Dh is on afternoon duty (she has another, separate, rehearsal this afternoon).

She wanted me to take her - she's 7, and has AS. I'm happy to take her, and we'd agreed it ages ago. The only problem was dh not running to time.

PandasRock · 13/07/2014 11:36

Another few weeks yet!

Dh spoke to MIL last night, who expressed her unbelievable sadness that we weren't going, and came up with everore unlikely scenarios as to how we should be able to go...

We're still not going Smile (well, dh is, all well and good).
