To think you wouldn't want your full name and workplace mentioned on MN

...assuming you are not in the public eye?

Someone I know has been mentioned on MN (I'm assuming without her knowledge), full name, plus employers name. I reported it but MN seem to think it's ok.

Would you appreciate your first and last names and workplace being mentioned on here, assuming you are not after publicity or promoting anything?

NC'd for this.

I thought you meant a Mumsnetter had been outed. This is different: her professional role is being discussed. It's a normal thing to happen - you have a job, people discuss you as the holder of that post, they share your work contact details.

Her private information hasn't been shared; only her professional role.

WhatTheFork · 13/07/2014 00:58

Maybe, but canvassing for info on other forumites' dealings with you on a parenting forum? Details including full name and workplace.

Oh. She's not even a mumsnetter? I don't see an issue, no different to "Is Locallymcbucks coffee shop any good?"

Unless she's a spy or something.

Ok so you're talking about a specific person e.g. Nursery key worker employed by a nursery. In which case yes it would be more usual for people to seek reviews on the nursery in general rather than on specific people there

I personally feel it is shitty of MN to leave the post up. Saying that my local forum is as dead as the dodo, so probably no actual harm done.

Petula, yes that's pretty much the scenario. Pretty shitty IMO. Person's name is unusual, so no doubt about who they're talking about.

Hi everyone,

Just to clarify, the poster was asking for experiences of a certain teacher at a school. It wasn't a case of an MNer being outed.

We have since reconsidered our original response and zapped the post.

Hope that clears things up!

JenniferJo · 13/07/2014 11:05

Good decision, Amy.

AmyMumsnet · 13/07/2014 11:17

Why thankyew

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 13/07/2014 13:45

BANG! And the highly inappropriate question is GONE.

Lottiedoubtie · 14/07/2014 00:19

Thanks Amy, speaking as a teacher I'd be mortified if this happened to me - and my SMT would be equally unimpressed I'd imagine! So thanks for setting a precedent that this type of thing is not ok on MN!
